Comment on "Groundwater depletion in the Middle East from GRACE with implications for transboundary water management in the Tigris- Euphrates-Western Iran Region'' by Katalyn A. Voss et al.
Darama, Yakup (2014-01-01)
In this study, we use observations from the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) satellite mission to evaluate freshwater storage trends in the north-central Middle East, including portions of the Tigris and Euphrates River Basins and western Iran, from January 2003 to December 2009. GRACE data show an alarming rate of decrease in total water storage of approximately -27.2±0.6 mm yr-1 equivalent water height, equal to a volume of 143.6 km3 during the course of the study period. Additional remote-...
Comment on "207Pb-206Pb single-zircon evaporation ages of some granitoid rocks reveal continent-oceanic island arc collision during the Cretaceous geodynamic evolution of the Central Anatolian crust, Turkey" - Boztug, D., Tichomirowa, M. & Bombach, K., 2007, JAES 31, 71-86
Göncüoğlu, Mehmet Cemal (2009-05-20)
A continent-oceanic island arc collision model was proposed as a new geodynamic scenario for the evolution of the Cretaceous Central Anatolian granitoids in the Central Anatolian crystalline complex (CACC) by Boztug et al. (2007b) [Boztug, D., Tichomirowa, M., Bombach, K., 2007b. 207Pb-206Pb single-zircon evaporation ages of some granitoid rocks reveal continent-oceanic island arc collision during the Cretaceous geodynamic evolution of the central Anatolian crust, Turkey. journal of Asian Earth Sciences 31,...
Commentary on comparison of MODIS snow cover and albedo products with ground observations over the mountainous terrain of Turkey
ŞORMAN, ALİ ÜNAL; Akyürek, Sevda Zuhal; ŞENSOY ŞORMAN, AYNUR; ŞORMAN, ALİ ARDA; TEKELİ, AHMET EMRE (2007-01-01)
The MODerate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) snow cover product was evaluated by Parajka and Blosch (2006) over the territory of Austria. The spatial and temporal variability of the MODIS snow product classes are analyzed, the accuracy of the MODIS snow product against numerous in situ snow depth data are examined and the main factors that may influence the MODIS classification accuracy are identified in their studies. The authors of this paper would like to provide more discussion to the scien...
Comment on "Catchment flow estimation using Artifical Neural Networks in the mountainous Euphrates basin" by AG Yilmaz, MA Imteaz, G. Jenkins (J. Hydrol. 410 (2011) 134-140)
ŞENSOY ŞORMAN, AYNUR; Sorman, A. Unal; ŞORMAN, ALİ ARDA (2012-08-06)
The studies conducted in the Euphrates Basin draws special attention due to its high snow potential and hydropolitical condition. Snow and hydrometeorological instrumentation has been set up for real time monitoring and data collection in the Upper Euphrates Basin over the past decade. Hydrological modeling studies using satellite snow products have been carried out in the basin for real time runoff forecasting. Moreover, the Upper Euphrates Basin is a pilot basin for several national and international proj...
