Flexible supercapacitor electrodes with silver nanowire networks
Ünalan, Hüsnü Emrah; Coşkun, Şahin (null; 2018-11-25)
Silver nanowires (Ag NWs) are appealing candidates for supercapacitor electrodes due to their high conductivity in addition to their allowance for all active materials to be in close contact to facilitate charge transport. All are very important to attain maximum charge accumulation provided that Ag NWs are electrochemically stable within the utilized potential window. In this work, high aspect ratio Ag NWs are used within a coaxial and/or network-like flexible nanocomposite structure in supercapacitor elec...
Flexible supercapacitor electrodes with vertically aligned carbon nanotubes grown on aluminum foils
Dogru, Itir Bakis; Durukan, Mete Batuhan; Turel, Onur; Ünalan, Hüsnü Emrah (2016-06-01)
In this work, vertically aligned carbon nanotubes (VACNTs) grown on aluminum foils were used as flexible supercapacitor electrodes. Aluminum foils were used as readily available, cheap and conductive substrates, and VACNTs were grown directly on these foils through chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method. Solution based ultrasonic spray pyrolysis (USP) method was used for the deposition of the CNT catalyst. Direct growth of VACNTs on aluminum foils ruled out both the internal resistance of the supercapacitor...
Flexible, silver nanowire network nickel hydroxide core-shell electrodes for supercapacitors
YUKSEL, Recep; Coskun, Sahin; Kalay, Yunus Eren; Ünalan, Hüsnü Emrah (2016-10-01)
We present a novel one-dimensional coaxial architecture composed of silver nanowire (Ag NW) network core and nickel hydroxide (Ni(OH)(2)) shell for the realization of coaxial nanocomposite electrode materials for supercapacitors. Ag NWs are formed conductive networks via spray coating onto polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrates and Ni(OH)(2) is gradually electrodeposited onto the Ag NW network to fabricate core-shell electrodes for supercapacitors. Synergy of highly conductive Ag NWs and high capacitiv...
Flexible organic photovoltaics from zinc oxide nanowires grown on transparent and conducting single walled carbon nanotube thin films
Ünalan, Hüsnü Emrah; Kuo, Daniel; Parekh, Bhavin; Amaratunga, Gehan; Chhowalla, Manish (Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), 2008-01-01)
The fabrication of flexible organic photovoltaics (OPVs) which utilize transparent and conducting single walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) thin films as current collecting electrodes on plastic substrates in zinc oxide nanowire (ZnO NW)/poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) bulk heterojunction photovoltaic devices is reported. The bulk heterojunctions for exciton dissociation are created by directly growing ZnO nanowires from solution on the SWNT electrodes and spin coating the P3HT polymer. A maximum OPV power convers...
Flexible waveguides with amorphous photonic materials
Sarihan, Murat Can; Yilmaz, Yildirim Batuhan; Erdil, Mertcan; Aras, Mehmet Sirin; Yanik, Cenk; Wong, Chee Wei; Kocaman, Serdar (2019-01-01)
Amorphous photonic materials offer an alternative to photonic crystals as a building block for photonic integrated circuits due to their shared short-range order. By using the inherent disorder of amorphous photonic materials, it is possible to design flexible-shaped waveguides that are free from restrictions of photonic crystals at various symmetry axes. Effects of disorder on photonic crystal waveguide boundaries have examined before, and it is shown that flexible waveguides with high transmission are pos...
