Nonlinear frequency conversion of light inside a microcavity
Yüce, Emre (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, 2019-01-01)
Changing the color of light in a small mode volume is essential for applications that require on-chip operation. Microcavities are profound structures given their property to confine light in a small mode volume. Here, I numerically investigate the frequency conversion of light in a microcavity and show that the frequency converted light intensity is distinguished from an open medium such as an optical fiber or a nonlinear crystal. I observe that the frequency converted light intensity increases with increa...
Nonlinear intersubband optical absorption of Si delta-doped GaAs under an electric field
Yildirim, Hasan; Tomak, Mehmet (Wiley, 2006-10-01)
We study the nonlinear intersubband optical absorption of a single Si delta-doped GaAs sheet placed in the middle of a GaAs quantum well and subjected to an electric field. The Schrodinger and Poisson equations are solved self-consistently for various electric field strengths. The self-consistent solutions provide us with the correct confining potential, the wave functions, the corresponding subband energies and the subband occupations. The nonlinear optical intersubband absorption spectra are discussed wit...
Nonlinear free vibrations of curved double walled carbon nanotubes using differential quadrature method
Ciğeroğlu, Ender (Elsevier BV, 2014-11-01)
Nonlinear free vibration analysis of curved double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWNTs) embedded in an elastic medium is studied in this study. Nonlinearities considered are due to large deflection of carbon nanotubes (geometric nonlinearity) and nonlinear interlayer van der Waals forces between inner and outer tubes. The differential quadrature method (DQM) is utilized to discretize the partial differential equations of motion in spatial domain, which resulted in a nonlinear set of algebraic equations of motion...
Nonlinear free vibration of double walled carbon nanotubes by using describing function method with multiple trial functions
Ciğeroğlu, Ender (2012-09-01)
In this paper, nonlinear free vibration of double walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) embedded in an elastic medium with geometric nonlinearity and interlayer van der Waals force nonlinearity are studied. The motion of the DWCNT is represented by multiple eigenfunctions of the linear system which are referred as trial functions. Describing function method (DFM) is employed in order to represent the nonlinear forces as a multiplication of a nonlinear stiffness matrix and a displacement vector, which made it pos...
