Structural and electronic properties of InmSen microclusters: density functional theory calculations
Erkoc, S; Katırcıoğlu, Şenay; Yilmaz, T (2001-06-15)
We have investigated the structural and electronic properties of isolated InmSen microclusters for m + n less than or equal to 4 by performing density functional theory calculations. We have obtained the optimum geometries, possible dissociation channels and the electronic structure of the clusters considered.
Boundary element method solution of initial and boundary value problems in fluid dynamics and magnetohydrodynamics
Bozkaya, Canan; Tezer, Münevver; Department of Mathematics (2008)
In this thesis, the two-dimensional initial and boundary value problems invol\-ving convection and diffusion terms are solved using the boundary element method (BEM). The fundamental solution of steady magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow equations in the original coupled form which are convection-diffusion type is established in order to apply the BEM directly to these coupled equations with the most general form of wall conductivities. Thus, the solutions of MHD flow in rectangular ducts and in infinite regions...
Angular analysis of the decay B+ -> K+mu(+)mu(-) in proton-proton collisions at root s=8 TeV
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (American Physical Society (APS), 2018-12-01)
The angular distribution of the flavor-changing neutral current decay B+ -> K+mu(+)mu(-) is studied in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV. The analysis is based on data collected with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.5 fb(-1). The forward-backward asymmetry A(FB) of the dimuon system and the contribution F-H from the pseudoscalar, scalar, and tensor amplitudes to the decay width are measured as a function of the dimuon mass squared. The m...
Exponential Equation for Predicting Shear Strength Envelope of Unsaturated Soils
Ahmadi Naghadeh, Reza; Toker, Nabi Kartal (2019-07-01)
An exponential equation is introduced to predict the nonlinear variation of shear strength with matric suction for unsaturated soils. The proposed equation involves three constant parameters, two of which are effective shear strength parameters (i.e., phi ' and c '). The third parameter is the maximum capillary cohesion, c '' max, which is the maximum possible increase in shear strength due to matric suction. A procedure for the determination of c '' max from the soil-water characteristic curve (SWCC) is de...
FEM solution to natural convection flow of a micropolar nanofluid in the presence of a magnetic field
TÜRK, ÖNDER; Tezer, Münevver (2017-03-01)
The two-dimensional, laminar, unsteady natural convection flow in a square enclosure filled with aluminum oxide ()-water nanofluid under the influence of a magnetic field, is considered numerically. The nanofluid is considered as Newtonian and incompressible, the nanoparticles and water are assumed to be in thermal equilibrium. The mathematical modelling results in a coupled nonlinear system of partial differential equations. The equations are solved using finite element method (FEM) in space, whereas, the ...
