Self-assessment of students' speaking skills
Başak, Helin; Sağın Şimşek, Sultan Çiğdem; Department of English Language Teaching (2019)
This study has the main aim to examine whether there is a significant difference between students’ self-assessment of their speaking skills and teachers’ assessment of students’ speaking skills. In addition, the study also aims to determine whether students and teachers assess different components of speaking skill such as grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and fluency significantly different from each other or not. Finally, the study aims to investigate whether students’ self-assessment show differences i...
Self-reports of preschool foreign language teachers on early childhood foreign language teaching and related challenges
Bezcioğlu Göktolga, İrem; Olgan, Refika; Department of Early Childhood Education (2013)
This study aimed to investigate the views of preschool foreign language teachers on the purpose of foreign language instruction in preschool years, their self-reported practices, challenges and addressing challenges in planning, implementing and assessing children’s foreign language learning. Twenty participants, 11 of whom took a related course on teaching foreign language to very young learners in undergraduate degree and nine of whom did not, were interviewed using an interview protocol designed and pilo...
Self-assembly of an organocatalyst for the enantioselective synthesis of Michael adducts and alpha-aminoxy alcohols in a nonpolar medium
Demir, Ayhan Sıtkı; BAŞÇEKEN, SİNAN (2013-10-15)
A proline-thiourea host-guest complex is described as a self-assembled organocatalyst for the enantioselective Michael addition of aldehydes to nitroolefins and for the asymmetric alpha-aminoxylation of both aldehydes and ketones. The Michael adducts were obtained in good yields of up to 80%, high diastereo-selectivities of up to 5:95, and high enantiomeric excesses of up to 98%. The optically active aminoxy alcohols were synthesized in 60-85% yields with 94-99% enantiomeric excesses after reduction of the ...
Self-excitation of induction motors compensated by permanently connected capacitors and recommendations for IEEE Std 141-1993
Ermiş, Muammer; Cadirci, I; Zenginobuz, G; Tezcan, H (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2003-03-01)
Self-excitation of induction motors compensated by permanently connected capacitors is investigated in this paper. Theoretical analyses of self, excitation phenomenon are carried out by using some simplified equivalent circuits, and a hybrid mathematical model in ABC/dq axes, respectively, in steady state and transient state. An unusual operating condition about water pumping stations is reported, in which water within the pipeline may drive the motor in the reverse direction at speeds higher than synchrono...
Self-regulation strategies that Eenglish language learners in a Turkish state university use to increase their proficiency and self-efficacy
Tomak, Burak; Seferoğlu, Gölge; Department of English Language Teaching (2017)
With the new trends in language teaching, more responsibility has been given to the language learners who are in charge of their own learning. Thus, they are now supposed to keep track of their language development and do their best to increase their language proficiency and self-efficacy. Especially learners who start their language learning from A1 level and who must reach to B2 level within a limited time just like the ones here in this study are expected to make use of the language learning strategies t...
