Ensemble adaptive tile prefetching using fuzzy logic
Uluat, Mehmet Fatih; İşler, Veysi (2016-06-02)
Prefetching is a process in which the necessary portion of data is predicted and loaded into memory beforehand. The increasing usage of geographic data in different types of applications has motivated the development of different prefetching techniques. Each prefetching technique serves a specific type of application, such as two-dimensional geographic information systems or three-dimensional visualization, and each one is crafted for the corresponding navigation patterns. However, as the boundary between t...
Ensemble Modeling of Hydrologic and Hydraulic Processes at One Shot: Application to Kinematic Open-Channel Flow under Uncertain Channel Properties by the Stochastic Method of Characteristics
Ercan, Ali; Kavvas, M. L. (2012-01-01)
A stochastic kinematic wave model for open-channel flow under uncertain channel properties is developed. The Fokker-Planck equation (FPE) of the kinematic open-channel flow process under uncertain channel properties is developed by using the method of characteristics. Every stochastic partial differential equation has a one-to-one relationship with a nonlocal Lagrangian-Eulerian FPE (LEFPE). As such, one can develop an LEFPE for the governing equation of any hydrologic or hydraulic process as the physically...
Ensemble Modeling of Hydrologic and Hydraulic Processes at One Shot: Application to Kinematic Open-Channel Flow under Uncertain Channel Properties and Uncertain Lateral Flow Conditions by the Stochastic Method of Characteristics
Ercan, Ali; Kavvas, M. L. (2012-03-01)
A stochastic kinematic wave model for open channel flow is developed under uncertain channel properties and uncertain lateral flow conditions. Applying a known methodology, the Fokker-Planck equation (FPE) of the kinematic open-channel flow process under uncertain channel properties and uncertain lateral flow conditions is derived using the method of characteristics. Because every stochastic partial differential equation has a one-to-one relationship with a nonlocal Lagrangian-Eulerian Fokker-Planck equatio...
Ensemble modeling of kinematic open channel flow under uncertain channel properties
Ercan, Ali; Kavvas, M.L. (2012-09-17)
Nonlocal Lagrangian-Eulerian Fokker-Planck Equation of the kinematic open channel flow process under uncertain channel properties is developed utilizing the method of characteristics. Monte Carlo simulations showed that the developed Fokker-Planck equation is capable of modeling ensemble behavior of the kinematic open channel process under uncertain channel properties. © 2012 ASCE.
Ensemble monte carlo study of nonequilibrium carrier dynamics in photo-excited p-i-n, structures
Guncer, SE; Ferry, DK (1996-04-01)
Light scattering from conduction electrons (or from valence holes) can give information on the time-resolved velocity distribution of nonequilibrium carriers. The experimental approach utilizes, e.g., Raman scattering from the single particles to ascertain the velocity distribution. Calculation of the distribution function through an ensemble Monte Carlo technique allows a comparison between the experiment and theory. Here, this is demonstrated with studies of a GaAs p-i-n structure embedded within cladding...
