Non Muslim minorities and Turkish national identity : a research through Armenian and Greek literary works
Durak, Nuran Savaşkan; Kaya, Ahmet Raşit; Department of Political Science and Public Administration (2004)
The purpose of this study is to concentrate on the changing discourses in Turkish history and their constitutive themes in positioning the selfاimage of the minorities, i.e., Armenians and Greeks, the Turks being أotherؤ. The research is carried out on the basis of the literary works produced by the intellectuals / authors of these minorities. The historical context, which is taken as the reference point for these discourses, covers the period from the late Ottoman Period up to the early 1960s. Furthermore,...
Non-motorized transport for mobility planning in city centres : an assesment of opportunities for transforming Ankara, Tunalı Hilmi street into a pedestrian-friendly area
Okulu, Senem Gökçe; Babalık, Ela; Department of Urban Policy Planning and Local Governments (2007)
Car dependency which corresponds to excessive and inappropriate usage of the car itself is becoming a major problem all around the world. It shapes urban areas in such a way that the overall urban form as well as individual activities all develop to accommodate cars. However, “introducing nonmotorized modes” is seen as a remedy to overcome the car dependency. It offers a chance for retrieving healthy urban environments and healthy social lives and also for revitalizing/enhancing public spaces in cities. Thi...

Semi-IPN Chitosan/PEG Microspheres and Films for Biomedical Applications: Characterization and Sustained Release Optimization
Gunbas, Ismail Dogan; Sezer, Umran Aydemir; GÜLÇE İZ, SULTAN; Gurhan, Ismet Deliloglu; Hasırcı, Nesrin (2012-09-19)
Micro drug carriers are one of the efficient methods for local or systemic cancer treatment. In this study, the aim was to prepare a novel semi-interpenetrated (semi-IPN) micro system by using biocompatible chitosan (CH) and polyethylene glycol (PEG). Various combinations of the systems were prepared and loaded with a model chemotherapeutic drug, methotrexate (MTX), and the effects of composition on the properties and the release behavior of microspheres were examined. Also, the mechanical and thermal prope...
Semi-IPN chitosan/polyvinylpyrrolidone microspheres and films: sustained release and property optimisation
Ozerkan, Taylan; Sezer, Umran Aydemir; Gurhan, Ismet Deliloglu; GÜLÇE İZ, SULTAN; Hasırcı, Nesrin (2013-01-01)
A set of chitosan-polyvinylpyrrolidone (CH-PVP) microspheres were prepared as semi-inter penetrating networks (semi-IPN) and loaded with 5-fluorouracil. In vitro release studies showed faster release for semi-IPN microspheres compared to pure CH samples, and the total release was achieved in about 20-30 days, depending on the composition. In vitro cell studies were achieved against human breast adenocarcinoma cell line cells where adsorption of cells on microspheres with a significant decrease in their numb...
