Investigation of the effect of thickness and radius of curvature on explosively formed penetrator (efp) formation

2010-12-01
In this work, a numerical study is carried out by using AUTODYN hydrocodc for the investigation of the effects of thickness and radius of curvature of the liner on the formation of Explosively Formed Penetrator (EFP). It is aimed to determine the limits of EFP formation by changing radius of curvature of the liner from almost flat plate to hemispherical liner for five different liner materials (Copper, Tantalum, Tungsten, Nickel 200 and Molybdenum) and three different explosive materials (C4, Octol, and PBX-110). Also initial results of an experimental study are presented.
