Simulation-based VoIP performance evaluation under different traffic and codec conditions
Ünlü, Berk; Schmidt, Şenan Ece; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2013)
One of today’s most popular multimedia applications that needs more investigation and optimization is Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). Simulation tools are essential to test existing network technologies and develop new ones. They are effectively used for network analysis and solving design and optimization problems. The focus of this thesis is an extensive simulation study to evaluate the achieved Quality of Service (QoS) support by VoIP traffic under different network topologies, traffic profiles, cod...
3D animation for hand preshaping
Güler, Mehmet Soner; Halıcı, Uğur; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2006)
The human hand is an essential part of human body, capable of making complex and expressive motions. Its complicated structure makes it a formidable challenge for animators to animate hand motions. Most computer graphics research on hand motion has focused on preshaping, preshaping and gestures with application to areas of human computer interaction and sign language. There are also a number of educational applications such as typing, playing of musical instruments etc. From a computer graphics standpoint, ...
SIMULATION CALCULATIONS FOR GOLD CLUSTERS ON THE GAAS(110) SURFACE
Erkoç, Şakir; HALICIOGLU, T; TILLER, WA (1992-08-15)
Energy- and structure-related properties of small gold clusters deposited on the GaAs(110) surface were investigated in this work using a molecular dynamics procedure. A recently developed potential energy function based on two- and three-body interactions was employed in calculating energies and forces. These calculations produced some consistent results with experiments. The three-body interactions involving As atoms in particular, were found to play an important role in determining favorable binding site...
Coding algorithms for 3DTV - A survey
Smolic, Aljoscha; Mueller, Karsten; Stefanoski, Nikolce; Ostermann, Joern; Gotchev, Atanas; Akar, Gözde; Triantafyllidis, Georgios; Koz, Alper (2007-11-01)
Research efforts on 3DTV technology have been strengthened worldwide recently, covering the whole media processing chain from capture to display. Different 3DTV systems rely on different 3-D scene representations that integrate various types of data. Efficient coding of these data is crucial-for the success of 3DTV. Compression of pixel-type data including stereo video, multiview video, and associated depth or disparity maps extends available principles of classical video coding. Powerful algorithms and ope...
