A Fully Implicit Finite Volume Lattice Boltzmann Method for Turbulent Flow
Cevik, Fatih; Albayrak, Kahraman (2017-08-01)
Almost all schemes existed in the literature to solve the Lattice Boltzmann Equation like stream & collide, finite difference, finite element, finite volume schemes are explicit. However, it is known fact that implicit methods utilizes better stability and faster convergence compared to the explicit methods. In this paper, a method named herein as Implicit Finite Volume Lattice BoltzmannMethod (IFVLBM) for incompressible laminar and turbulent flows is proposed and it is applied to some 2D benchmark test cas...
A hybrid stress element for thin-walled beams
Oral, Süha (2003-04-05)
A hybrid stress finite element for linear static analysis of thin-walled beams is presented. The element is based on Vlasov theory. The hybrid stress formulation is particularly suitable in this case where displacement assumption is not necessary and a simple polynomial assumption for independent stress resultants is sufficient to form the element stiffness matrix. The result is a simple and elegant element, which is accurate and cost effective. The formulation is assessed by analyzing a structure having op...

A Hybrid Nonlinear Method for Array Thinning
Epcacan, Erdal; Çiloğlu, Tolga (2018-05-01)
A nonlinear method for array thinning is proposed. The method is based on hybrid usage of genetic algorithm (GA) and nonlinear apodization. The method proposes a special layout, which consists of two subarrays. Layout and weights for the subarray having larger aperture are designed by GA. Layout and weights for the second subarray are determined according to results of the aforementioned design. Dual apodization is applied to the outputs of the subarrays to obtain the output. Results show that there is an i...
