A continuous object tracking system with stationary and moving camera modes
Emeksiz, Deniz; Temizel, Alptekin (2012-09-27)
Automatic detection and tracking of objects get more important with the increasing number of surveillance cameras and mobile platforms having cameras. Tracking systems are either designed with stationary camera or designed to work in moving camera. When the camera is stationary, correspondence based tracking with background subtraction has a number of benefits such as enabling automatic detection of new objects in the scene and better tracking accuracy. On the other hand, mean shift is a histogram-based tra...
Automatic Description Generation from Images: A Survey of Models, Datasets, and Evaluation Measures
Bernardi, Raffaella; Cakici, Ruket; Elliott, Desmond; Erdem, Aykut; Erdem, Erkut; Ikizler-Cinbis, Nazli; Keller, Frank; Muscat, Adrian; Plank, Barbara (AI Access Foundation, 2016-2-23)
Automatic description generation from natural images is a challenging problem that has recently received a large amount of interest from the computer vision and natural language processing communities. In this survey, we classify the existing approaches based on how they conceptualize this problem, viz., models that cast description as either generation problem or as a retrieval problem over a visual or multimodal representational space. We provide a detailed review of existing models, highlighting their ad...
A multimodal approach for individual tracking of people and their belongings
Beyan, Çiğdem; Temizel, Alptekin (2015-04-01)
In this study, a fully automatic surveillance system for indoor environments which is capable of tracking multiple objects using both visible and thermal band images is proposed. These two modalities are fused to track people and the objects they carry separately using their heat signatures and the owners of the belongings are determined. Fusion of complementary information from different modalities (for example, thermal images are not affected by shadows and there is no thermal reflection or halo effect in...
FAST CONSTRAINT GRAPH GENERATION ALGORITHMS FOR VLSI LAYOUT COMPACTION
TORUNOGLU, IH; ASKAR, M (1994-04-14)
Three new fast constraint graph generation algorithms, PPSS-1D, PPSS-1Dk and PPSS-2D, are presented for VLSI layout compaction. The algorithms are based on parallel plane sweep shadowing (PPSS). The PPSS-1D algorithm improves the time spent on searching processes from O(N/spl circ/1.5) to O(G*N) with extra O(G) memory where G is independent of N. PPSS-1Dk, the successor to PPSS-1D, eliminates the possibility of generation of unnecessary constraints using extra O(k*G) memory. PPSS-2D improves the O(NlogN) so...
Utilization of Mixolab (R) to predict the suitability of flours in terms of cake quality
Kahraman, Kevser; Sakiyan, Ozge; Ozturk, Serpil; KÖKSEL, HAMİT; Şümnü, Servet Gülüm; Dubat, Arnaud (2008-06-01)
The objective of this study was to determine the possibility of using Mixolab((R)) to predict the cake baking quality of different wheat flours. Mixolab((R)) data were also compared with various flour quality characteristics. The correlations between Alveoconsistograph data and the cake quality characteristics were not significant. Therefore, Alveoconsistograph test does not seem to be useful to predict the cake quality of the flour samples. Mixolab((R)) characteristics C2, C3, C4 and C5 were found to be si...
