A wave climate study for an LNG terminal near Marmara Ereglisi, Turkey
Akyarli, A; Yalçıner, Ahmet Cevdet (1997-01-01)
A liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal has been constructed near Marmara Ereglisi - a coastal town located at the northern coast of the Sea of Marmara in Turkey - to unload imported LNG from Algeria. Regarding the wave related issues in the design of the terminal and offshore operations, a wave climate study - comprising direct wave measurements carried out by a directional type wave buoy during one year period and hindcasting studies based on ten years of hourly wind data recorded at Tekirdag meteorologica...
A Comprehensive Study to Define Local Site Effects in Northern Ankara Turkey
Eker, Arif Mert; Akgün, Haluk; Koçkar, Mustafa Kerem (null; 2013-05-31)
The study is mainly focused on the dynamic soil characterization and determination of site effects for the PlioQuaternary and especially alluvial soils of the Çubuk district and its close vicinity in Ankara. It was observed that the shear wave velocity values for the uppermost 30 meter of the soil profile is not adequate to classify the sites properly and these values could not be correlated with the H/V results obtained from the microtremor records due to the great thicknesses of the soft sediments. The hi...
A study of site dependent response spectra based on accelerograms recorded in Turkey.

A study of cosmic ray secondaries induced by the Mir space station using AMS-01
Aguilar, M; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2005-06-01)
The Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS-02) is a high energy particle physics experiment that will study cosmic rays in the similar to 100 MeV to 1 TeV range and will be installed on the International Space Station (ISS) for at least 3 years. A first version of AMS-02, AMS-01, flew aboard the space shuttle Discovery from June 2 to June 12, 1998, and collected 108 cosmic ray triggers. Part of the Mir space station was within the AMS-01 field of view during the four day Mir docking phase of this flight. We have ...
A study of the material in the ATLAS inner detector using secondary hadronic interactions
Aad, G.; et. al. (IOP Publishing, 2012-01-01)
The ATLAS inner detector is used to reconstruct secondary vertices due to hadronic interactions of primary collision products, so probing the location and amount of material in the inner region of ATLAS. Data collected in 7 TeV pp collisions at the LHC, with a minimum bias trigger, are used for comparisons with simulated events. The reconstructed secondary vertices have spatial resolutions ranging from similar to 200 mu m to 1 mm. The overall material description in the simulation is validated to within an ...
