We have studied the long-term variations of Mira type variables observed with Robotic Optical Transient Search Experiment telescope (ROTSE-IIId) between 2004 and 2009 located at TUBITAK National Observatory (TUG) in Antalya, Turkey. The actual pulsation periods, variability amplitudes, epochs of maximums and light curves of selected 70 Mira type variables already defined in the SIMBAD database were investigated. In these variables; 17 periods are identified for the first time. Crown Copyright.

Observations of the unidentified TeV gamma-ray source TeV J2032+4130 with the Whipple Observatory 10 m telescope
Konopelko, A.; et. al. (IOP Publishing, 2007-04-01)
We report on observations of the sky region around the unidentified TeV gamma-ray source (TeV J2032+ 4130) carried out with the Whipple Observatory 10 m atmospheric Cerenkov telescope for a total of 65.5 hr between 2003 and 2005. The standard two-dimensional analysis developed by the Whipple collaboration for a stand-alone telescope reveals an excess in the field of view at a pretrial significance level of 6.1 sigma. The measured position of this excess is alpha = 20(h)32(m)27(s), delta = 41 degrees 39'17" ...
The broad-band noise characteristics of selected cataclysmic variables (CVS), anomalous x-ray pulsars (AXPS) and soft gamma repeaters (SGRS)
Külebi, Baybars; Balman, Şölen; Department of Physics (2006)
In this work present the broad-band noise structure in the 2-60 keV data of Cataclysmic Variables (CVs) with Anomalous X-Ray Pulsars (AXPs) and Soft Gamma Repeaters (SGRs). We analyzed Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) PCA data and derived time series from 27 CVs, 4 AXPs and 1 SGR using the RXTE archive. In general, CVs of different types all show broad band noise which can be fitted with power laws, using exponentional cut-offs, and Lorentzians in a similar way to power spectral (noise) characteristics of...
The broad-band noise characteristics of selected AXPs and SGRs: Probing the magnetar coronae
Kulebi, Baybars; Balman, Şölen (2007-08-17)
We present the broad-band noise structure of Anomalous X-Ray Pulsars (AXPs) and Soft Gamma Repeaters (SGRs) in the 2-60 keV energy band which are thought to be powered by either magnetic decay(Thompson & Duncan 1995) or accretion (Alpar 2001). We have used Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (R-XTE) PCA archival light curves and derived time series for 4 AXPs and 1 SGR. We detect that AXP and SGR sources show band limited noise at low frequencies in the range 0.005-0.05 Hz. We find that this noise level can be asso...
A Study on W Ursae Majoris-Type Systems Recognised by the ROTSE-IIId Experiment
Coker, D.; ÖZDEMİR, SACİT; YEŞİLYAPRAK, Cahit; Yerli, Sinan Kaan; AKSAKER, NAZIM; Gucsav, B. B. (Cambridge University Press (CUP), 2013-01-24)
We present a study on characterising the light curves of W UMa-type systems gathered from the archive containing 5 years of data observed with the Robotic Optical Transient Search Experiment Telescope (ROTSE-IIId) located in Turkey. A sample of 45 W UMa-type systems was studied on the basis of Fourier decomposition of light curves and some basic geometrical parameters, namely degree of contact (f), mass ratio (q), and orbital inclination (i), as approximated values for these systems were determined. Moreove...
A search for supernova remnants in the nearby spiral galaxy M74 (NGC 628)
SONBAŞ, EDA; AKYÜZ, AYSUN; Balman, Şölen; Ozel, M. E. (EDP Sciences, 2010-07-01)
An optical search was carried out for supernova remnants (SNRs) in the Sc type nearby spiral galaxy M 74, using ground-based observations at the TUBITAK National Observatory (TUG, Antalya/Turkey) and the Special Astrophysics Observatory (SAO, Russia). Observations were supplemented by the spectral analysis of archived X-ray data from XMM-Newton and Chandra. The survey of M74 covered similar to 9 arcmin(2) with [S II], H alpha, and their continuum filters. Interference filter images of M 74 were obtained the...
