Modeling and control of autonomous underwater vehicle manipulator vehicle manipulator systems
Korkmaz, Ozan; İder, Kemal S.; Özgören, Mustafa Kemal; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2012)
In this thesis, dynamic modeling and nonlinear control of autonomous underwater vehicle manipulator systems are presented. Mainly, two types of systems consisting of a 6-DOF AUV equipped with a 6-DOF manipulator subsystem (UVMS) and with an 8-DOF redundant manipulator subsystem (UVRMS) are modeled considering hydrostatic forces and hydrodynamic effects such as added mass, lift, drag and side forces. The shadowing effects of the bodies on each other are introduced when computing the hydrodynamic forces. The ...
The characterisation of die friction as a means to reduce component machining and attain near-net shape form
Özkan, Necati; AYDIN, I. (1998-01-01)
The cylindrical alumina compacts, produced by the uniaxial die pressing technique, posses a certain density distribution due to the creation of uneven stress distributions within the samples, which are controlled, in a major part, by the wall boundary (friction) conditions between the compact and the die wall. Die wall lubrication reduces the wall friction and hence the density variations within the compact. The extent of the shape deviations in the sintered compacts is directly proportional to the extent o...
Assessment of consolidation settlements in Karacabey soft clays: Estimated and monitored behaviour
Çelik, Gözde; Topal, Tamer; Erol, Ahmet Orhan; Department of Geological Engineering (2020-9)
Settlement of highway embankments constructed over clayey soft soils is a major problem encountered in maintaining highway facilities. Accurate estimation of consolidation settlement amounts and times has been a challenge for engineers in practice. In this study, field settlement measurements of 26 stations between 600 and 750 days of durations in Karacabey NC clays and comparison of these measured magnitudes of settlements with calculated settlements from oedometer tests are assessed. The correlation betwe...
MODELING OF GAN POWER TRANSISTOR PACKAGE FOR DESIGN OF BROADBAND HIGH-POWER AMPLIFIER
Baştüzel Çakmak, Özlem; Durgun, Ahmet Cemal; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2022-2-9)
Radio frequency (RF) power amplifiers (PAs) are the most crucial part for the development of high performance front-end RF and microwave systems. Power transistor is the key component of a power amplifier, which should be accurately modeled to provide good correlation between simulation and measurement results. Bare die transistor needs to be packaged, before attaching on printed circuit boards (PCBs) to provide protection, easy fabrication and prevent mechanical issues. In recent years, Gallium Nitride (Ga...
Parameter estimation in generalized partial linear models with conic quadratic programming
Çelik, Gül; Weber, Gerhard Wilhelm; Department of Scientific Computing (2010)
In statistics, regression analysis is a technique, used to understand and model the relationship between a dependent variable and one or more independent variables. Multiple Adaptive Regression Spline (MARS) is a form of regression analysis. It is a non-parametric regression technique and can be seen as an extension of linear models that automatically models non-linearities and interactions. MARS is very important in both classification and regression, with an increasing number of applications in many areas...
