The redox behaviour of trans-[NBun4][Au(CN)2X2](X = Cl, Br, or I) and [NBun4][Au(CN)2] have been investigated in acetonitrile solution. The effect of σ and π donor halides and π acceptor cyanide on the redox behaviour have also been studied. Intermediates are observed in the redox reactions of these systems.

The catalytic activity of space versus terrestrial synthesized zeolite Beta catalysts in the Meerwein Ponndorf Verley Reactions: Support for PFAL as the Lewis active site for cis-alcohol selectivity
Akata, Burcu; Goodrich, Trevor L.; Ziemer, Katherine S.; Sacco, Albert (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2007-01-01)
The Lewis activity of the Meerwein-Ponndorf-Verley (MPV) reactions is hypothesized to be due to partial framework aluminum (PFAl) that is either octahedrally or tri-coordinated. Crystals grown in the ftee-fall environment of low earth orbit (LEO) are more uniform; that is, have fewer lattice "defects" compared to those grown in a gravity field (i.e., on earth). Therefore, crystals grown in orbit should be less catalytically active relative to their earth grown counterparts. The catalytic activity towards th...
The Syntheses of Some Novel (Naphthalen-1-yl-selenyl)acetic Acid Derivatives
Yavuz, Serkan; Dişli, Ali; Yıldırır, Yılmaz; Türker, Lemi (MDPI AG, 2005-8-31)
Some new (naphthalen-1-yl-selenyl)acetic acids derivatives 7a-d have been synthesized by two different methods, using naphthylselenols or naphthylselenocyanates. The structures of the products were investigated by spectroscopic methods.
The synthesis of zinc, chloride and fluoride doped nano hydroxylapatites by precipitation method and investigation of their mechanical, structural and biological properties
Uysal, İdil; Evis, Zafer; Severcan, Feride; Department of Biomedical Engineering (2011)
This study aimed synthesizing hydroxylapatite (HA) and Zn2+, F- and Cl- doped HA by solution precipitation method. The synthesized compounds were sintered at 1100°C for 1h. For structural characterization, density of the samples were measured by Archimedes’ method. It was observed that Zn2+ addition increased the density significantly whereas F- caused a decrease and Cl- increased the density with a little amount. XRD was applied to the samples and it was found that co-doping of Zn2+ and F- ions decreased t...
The effect of dissolved species on hydrophobic aggregation of fluorite
Hicyilmaz, C; Bilgen, S; Ozbas, KE (1997-03-10)
The hydrophobic aggregation of fluorite in the presence of Fe3+, Al3+, F- Ca2+, Mg2+ and Ba2+ ions was studied. Electrokinetic potentials were measured to interpret the effect of these ions on aggregation.
Chemistry of the benzotropone endoperoxides and their conversion into tropolone derivatives: Unusual endoperoxide rearrangements
Guney, M; Dastan, A; Balcı, Metin (Wiley, 2005-01-01)
The chemistry of two bicyclic endoperoxides, obtained by photooxygenation of 2,3-benzotropone (= 5H-benzocyclohepten-5-one 5) and of its ethyl carboxylate derivative 15, was investigated with the aim of synthesizing the respective benzotropolone derivatives. The reaction of the endoperoxide 10 derived from 5 with thiourea gave the desired benzotropolone, i.e., 6-hvdroxy-5H-benzocyclohepten-5-one (11), in high yield (Scheme 1). On the other hand, the endoperoxide 16 derived from the ethyl carboxylate derivat...
