Modelling of asymmetric membrane formation
Mchugh, A.j.; Yılmaz, Levent (American Chemical Society; 1986-09-01)
Asymmetric membranes are generally prepared by the phase inversion techniques, the principal steps of which involve casting a thin film of a homogeneous polymer solution onto a suitable substrate, followed by quenching in a nonsolvent bath to precipitate the membrane film. Since most studies of the process has been concerned with the development of specific preparation recipies, explanations of structure formation have generally been ad-hoc and qualitative. This paper presents the results of recent modellin...
Modelling of Diffusion in Random Packings of Core-Shell Particles
Hatipoğlu, Emre; Koku, Harun (Hacettepe University, 2017-04-01)
Core-Shell particles are commonly used materials in chromatography. In this study, a mathematical model that mimics diffusion around Core-Shell particles was developed. A random-walk based algorithm was implemented to simulate diffusion and a Core-Shell particle geometry was computationally formed, based on simple geometric constructs and relations. Diffusion simulations were carried out on a randomly packed geometry formed from these particles. The behavior of time-dependent diffusivity data obtained from ...

Modelling of interaction of shock waves with analytical methods
Koç, Mesut; Aksel, Mehmet Haluk; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2022-2)
In supersonic air vehicles, specially shaped air ducts are used to supply the air with required properties to the combustion chambers. Two-dimensional supersonic flow solvers used to design such geometrical shapes have become less accurate as the geometrical shape of the air duct becomes asymmetric or flow becomes three-dimensional. This problem can be overcome by solving the interaction between shock planes using analytical methods. In this study, an analytical solution model based on principles of gas dyn...
