‘Tasarımcı Düşünce’ Geleneğinin Maceracı Yapısı Ve Kentsel Tasarım Eğitimine Katkısı Üzerine Deneysel Bir Kentsel Tasarım Stüdyosu: “İz Üstünde Taksim Meydanı”

Alangoya, Kezban Ayça
Discovering and interpreting life; namely observing the space constituting actions and physical properties with sensitivity, is the very process of design thinking in architecture. The ability to interpret is a learnable and teachable human sensitivity developed by being interested in acquiring knowledge about the social, political, psychological and natural dimensions of life's makeup. Therefore within the context of creating a deep interest for life in students of architecture, especially the analyses of existent public spaces provide appropriate settings. The creative analyses, which are organically woven into the wholeness of design thinking process, allow touching the deeper dimensions of physical environments which usually stay hidden at the beginning. Informing about the reality and encouraging its various interpretations, creative analyses give impulses to the designer for building and re-building her/his design thinking route. Through an experimental urban design studio as a case study, where throughout the design process the first set borders of the design area and the issues of discussion changed unexpectedly; the author attends to point out the informative and adventurous character of architectural design thinking and propose the actualization of some learning principles for the education.

Developing Systems Thinking Skills of Pre Service Science Teachers for becoming ESD Educators An attempt from Turkey
Gulız, Karaarslan; Teksöz, Gaye (null; 2015-06-29)
Newtonian-Cartesian science separates feeling from knowledge, mind or body and from its ecological and emotional context (Orr, 2004, p.31). This positivist view of science deals with the truths about the universe and science education (SE) plays a role to transmit these truths (Littledyke & Manolas, 2010). On the other hand, ESD incorporates a transformative holistic way of understanding and practice (UNECE, 2011) and in the 21st century SE holds a crucial purpose to help students make critical judgements a...
In the Still of the Moment: Deleuze's Phenomena of Motionless Time
Shores, Corry Michael (2014-05-01)
A process philosophical interpretation of Deleuze's theories of time encounters problems when formulating an account of Deleuze's portrayal of temporality in The Time-Image, where time is understood as having the structure of instantaneity and simultaneity. I remedy this shortcoming of process philosophical readings by formulating a phenomenological interpretation of Deleuze's second synthesis of time. By employing Deleuze's logic of affirmative synthetic disjunction in combination with his differential cal...
The identity (re)construction of nonnative English teachers stepping into native Turkish teachers' shoes
Mutlu Kaya, Sevcan (Informa UK Limited, 2016-01-01)
The present study explored the identity (re)construction of five nonnative English teachers who went to the USA on a prestigious scholarship for one year to teach their native language, Turkish. In that sense, it investigated how this shift from being a nonnative English teacher to a native Turkish teacher influenced their self-image, self-efficacy, and beliefs about teaching/learning. The data were collected mainly through three different instruments: a personal data questionnaire, ongoing controlled journ...
Search for New Phenomena in t(t)overbar Events with Large Missing Transverse Momentum in Proton-Proton Collisions at root s=7 TeV with the ATLAS Detector
Aad, G.; et. al. (2012-01-26)
A search for new phenomena in t (t) over bar events with large missing transverse momentum in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV is presented. The measurement is based on 1: 04 fb(-1) of data collected with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. Contributions to this final state may arise from a number of standard model extensions. The results are interpreted in terms of a model where new top-quark partners are pair produced and each decay to an on-shell top (or antitop) quark and a long-l...
An attempt to make a definition of existence and constructing a foundation for an axiomatic system of ontology
Çağatay, Hasan; Grünberg, Teo; Department of Philosophy (2007)
This thesis aims to make an analysis of the concepts of ‘existence’. It also constructs four new definitions based on the concept of ‘effect’ for different concepts of beings. By reasoning based on these definitions and some pre-suppositions, a foundation for an axiomatic system of ontology is tried to construct.
