Strength of carbon fiber reinforced polymers bonded to concrete and masonry
Serdar Camli, Umit; Binici, Barış (Elsevier BV, 2007-07-01)
Fiber reinforced polymers (FRPs) have gained popularity in upgrades of reinforced concrete structural elements within the last decade because of their ease of application and high strength-to-weight ratio. In the design of an effective retrofitting solution using FRP systems, the anchorage capacity has an important role. This study presents the results of 57 double shear push-out tests conducted to determine the strength of carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRPs) bonded to concrete prisms and hollow clay t...
Strength and fracture properties of roller compacted concrete (RCC) prepared by an in-situ compaction procedure
ŞENGÜN, EMİN; Aleessa Alam, Burhan; Shabani, R.; Yaman, İsmail Özgür (Elsevier BV, 2020-01-01)
© 2020 Elsevier LtdThe use of roller compacted concrete (RCC) technology in pavement applications has been steadily increasing owing to its economical as well as practical advantages. Past literature studies on RCC mixtures, focused mainly on the effects of RCC mixtures on their strength and durability properties, and there is a lack in the fracture properties. In this experimental study, a total of seven different RCC mixtures were designed with four different binder ratios ranging from 200 kg/m3 to 600 kg...
Strength of various sands in triaxial and cyclic direct shear tests
ÇABALAR, ALİ FIRAT; Dulundu, Kemal; Tuncay, Kağan (Elsevier BV, 2013-04-01)
This paper presents the result of an extensive series of experimental investigation carried out in triaxial and cyclic direct shear tests on sands having various properties, which were obtained from different locations in Turkey and in Northern Cyprus. In order to investigate the link between strength and physical properties (i.e., shape) of the sand particles, three series of triaxial tests (Consolidated-Drained, CD; Consolidated-Undrained, CU; and Unconsolidated-Undrained, UU) for each were performed unde...
STRENGTH OF STEEL-FIBER-REINFORCED POLYMER CONCRETE - EFFECT OF IMPREGNATION TECHNIQUE
Gündüz, Güngör; YALCIN, N (Elsevier BV, 1987-01-01)
Ordinary concrete was modified by three different techniques, (i) steel fibre reinforcement, (ii) polymer impregnation, and (iii) by both steel fibre reinforcement and polymer impregnation. Impregnating steel-fibre-reinforced concrete results in combined reinforcing effects. The flexural strength of concrete was increased 1·48 times by steel fibre reinforcement, 5·42 times by polymer impregnation, and 6·3 times by the combined technique. Polymer loading was increased from 7 to 9·5% by pressure impregnation ...
