The effect of cyclization on acenes

2000-10-23
Türker, Burhan Lemi
AM1 type semiempirical calculations were carried out involving acenes, dihydrocyclacenes and cyclacenes, in order to analyze the stabilizing and destabilizing factors effective on the cyclization of acenes to construct cyclacenes. Also, the effect of cyclization on the frontier molecular orbitals was discussed.

The effect of para-cyclophane structure on cyclacenes
Türker, Burhan Lemi (2000-02-01)
Semiempirical molecular orbital treatment at the level of AMI type has been performed on the Huckel type cyclacenes having the normal and the skew type para-cyclophane moiety embedded into their structures. The cyclophane effect is found to be operative on the lower members by veiling the cryptoannulenic effect which is influential on the heats of formation values and the frontier molecular orbital energies of the higher members as well as the parent cyclacenes.
The effect of substitutional impurities on the evolution of FeAl diffusion layer
Akdeniz, Mahmut Vedat; Mehrabov, Amdulla (Elsevier BV, 1998-2-13)
The formation and growth characteristics of Fe based aluminide diffusion layers at the Fe-Al interface have been analysed in terms of interfacial interaction potentials based on the statistico-thermodynamical theory of multicomponent alloys combined with electronic theory in the pseudopotential approximation. The pairwise interatomic interaction potentials and partial ordering energies have been calculated to predict the effect of various alloying additions on the activity coefficient of Al atoms in α-Fe0.9...
The effect of lime addition on the combustion properties and sulfur contents of three different coals
Ozbas, Kazim Esber; Hiçyilmaz, Cahit; Kök, Mustafa Verşan (2002-01-01)
In this research, combustion characterization of 3 different coals of Turkey, from the Soma, Tuncbilek, and Afsin Elbistan regions, were investigated with thermal analysis techniques such as differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetry (TG/DTG). Lime was added to these coals in concentrations of 3, 7, and 10% by weight to investigate the change in combustible sulfur content and sulfur in ash. It was observed that lime has a positive effect on sulfur emission. Kinetic analysis was also perfor...
A photogrammetry based method for determination of 3D morphological indices of coarse aggregates
Öztürk, Hande Işık (Elsevier BV, 2020-11-30)
Over the last half-century, various image-based methods have been developed to quantify the morphological indices of aggregates. The majority of these methods rely on two-dimensional (2D) imaging for practical reasons, whereas a limited number of these use three-dimensional (3D) imaging. The focus of this study is to develop a practical and inexpensive 3D photogrammetry based method. In this study, 3D morphological indices and shape features of 57 aggregates from five sources are determined by the photogram...
The polarization properties of the final state partyicles in the rare radiative b-meson decays
Yılmaz, Ümit Oktay; Turan, Gürsevil; Department of Physics (2005)
A general analysis of the photon and lepton polarizations in the rare Bs ? ?l+l- decay by using the most general model independent form of the effective Hamiltonian is presented. The total and the differential branching ratios for these decays, when photon is in the positive and negative helicity states, are studied. The sensitivity of "photon polarization asymmetry" and the longitudinal, transverse and normal polarization asymmetries of final state leptons, as well as lepton-antilepton combined asymmetries...
