TASDEMIROGLU, E
Sever, Ramazan
This paper provides the isopleth maps for the monthly average daily bright sunshine hours in Turkey. The data from 50 stations are elaborated. The maps are generated by the aid of a developed computer program.

Modeling and simulations of a micro solar power system
Pehlivanturk, Can; Ozkan, Onur; Baker, Derek Keıth (Wiley, 2014-07-01)
In this paper, the mathematical modeling and simulations of a concentrating solar power system located at the Middle East Technical University Northern Cyprus Campus are presented. The system consists of parabolic trough collectors (PTCs), a propane boiler, an organic Rankine cycle (ORC), and a wet cooling tower. Presently, the PTC field is severely undersized with respect to the ORC making the system impossible to operate without burning significant propane. Expanding the solar field could result in better...
AN IMPROVED CORRELATION FOR ESTIMATING SOLAR-RADIATION FROM BRIGHT SUNSHINE DATA FOR TURKEY
TASDEMIROGLU, E; Sever, Ramazan (Elsevier BV, 1991-01-01)
The following quadratic equation was previously developed to estimate the monthly average solar radiation in any place in Turkey: = a + b tc {sup 2} where is the ratio of the monthly averages of the bright sunshine to the length of the day, a and b are constants that depend on location. The measured solar radiation and bright sunshine data from two stations, totalling 1842 days, were used to evaluate the constants. In 1982 the State Meteorological Office of Turkey started solar radiation measurements in six...
The potential and economic viability of solar photovoltaic power in Ghana
Asumadu-Sarkodie, Samuel; Owusu, Phebe Asantewaa (Informa UK Limited, 2016-01-01)
In this study, the potentiality and economic viability of solar photovoltaic (PV) in Ghana was assessed using RETScreen software. 5 MW of grid-connected solar PV power system using SunPower SPR-320E-WHT-D PV module can be harnessed from Navrongo, Bawku, Wa, Tema, Bolgatanga, Axim, Salaga, Kintampo, Kete Krachi, Tamale, Hohoe, Koforidua, Ejura, Takoradi, Bole, Sunyani, Bibiani, Cape coast, Prestea, and Akuse, which requires US$17,752,179 of investment capital and 25,313 m(2) of land for PV installation. The ...
Artificial neural network modeling for forecasting gas consumption
Gorucu, FB; Geris, PU; Gumrah, F (Informa UK Limited, 2004-02-01)
This study includes an approach to evaluate and forecast gas consumption by Artificial Neural Network (ANN) modeling for the capital city of Ankara, Turkey. ANN models have been trained to perform complex functions in various fields of application including the forecasting process. The process of the study is examining the factors affecting the output and training the ANNs to decide the optimum parameters to be used in forecasting the gas consumption for the remaining days of 2002 and the year 2005. During ...
Operation of a multistory solar building under adverse climatic conditions
Taşdemiroğlu, E (Elsevier BV, 1990-1)
Architectural, urban, thermal, economic and industrial aspects of a multistory solar building have been investigated when operating under adverse climatic conditions in Turkey. Active, passive and hybrid space heating systems which could be adapted to the building structure have been studied comparatively. The magnitudes of the design elements and the technical-economic results of the selected hybrid system have been determined. A domestic hot water installation has been also described
