ON GENERALIZED LOCAL SYMMETRIES OF THE SO(2,1) INVARIANT NONLINEAR SIGMA-MODEL
BASKAL, S; ERIS, A; SATIR, A (1994-12-19)
The symmetries and associated conservation laws of the SO(2,1) invariant non-linear sigma model equations in 1+1 dimensions are investigated. An infinite family of generalized local symmetries is presented and the uniqueness of these solutions is discussed.
ON THE THERMODYNAMICS OF MICROBIAL-GROWTH PROCESSES
SANDLER, SI; ORBEY, H (Wiley, 1991-10-05)
In this article, we provide a rigorous thermodynamic analysis of microbial growth processes, clarify the role of the generalized degree of reduction concept as it is used in both stoichiometric equations and as a characterizing factor for thermophysical properties, and introduce a classification method to account for errors when using the generalized degree of reduction to estimate the energy and free energy contents of molecules. We maintain the advantages of using the generalized degree of reduction whil...
On solutions of the Schrodinger equation for some molecular potentials: wave function ansatz
IKHDAİR, SAMEER; Sever, Ramazan (2008-09-01)
Making an ansatz to the wave function, the exact solutions of the D-dimensional radial Schrodinger equation with some molecular potentials, such as pseudoharmonic and modified Kratzer, are obtained. Restrictions on the parameters of the given potential, delta and nu are also given, where eta depends on a linear combination of the angular momentum quantum number l and the spatial dimensions D and delta is a parameter in the ansatz to the wave function. On inserting D = 3, we find that the bound state eigenso...
On the Orthogonality of q-Classical Polynomials of the Hahn Class
Alvarez-Nodarse, Renato; Adiguzel, Rezan Sevinik; Taşeli, Hasan (2012-01-01)
The central idea behind this review article is to discuss in a unified sense the orthogonality of all possible polynomial solutions of the q-hypergeometric difference equation on a q-linear lattice by means of a qualitative analysis of the q-Pearson equation. To be more specific, a geometrical approach has been used by taking into account every possible rational form of the polynomial coefficients in the q-Pearson equation, together with various relative positions of their zeros, to describe a desired q-wei...
On the synthesis of a geared four-bar mechanism
PARLAKTAŞ, VOLKAN; Söylemez, Eres; TANIK, ENGİN (Elsevier BV, 2010-08-01)
This paper presents an analysis and synthesis method for a certain type of geared four-bar mechanism (GFBM) for which the input and output shafts are collinear. A novel analysis method is devised, expressions for the transmission angle are derived and charts are prepared for the design of such mechanisms. It is observed that the GFBM considered is inherently a quick-return mechanism. Large time ratios can be obtained with acceptable force transmission characteristics. During the working stroke, approximatel...
