Printed antennas are very popular for commercial and military RF (radio frequency)/microwave communication systems because there is an enormous evolution in printed circuit technology. In this study, printed monopole and filamentary excited dipole, which are basic models and easily applicable antennas within printed antennas, are analyzed, and analytical closed-form relations have been obtained. The expressions obtained in this article have been verified by CST Microwave Studio simulation numerically, and experimentally measured and published results are available in the open literature. The compared results are close to each other. Therefore, these relations could be used as an initial design step just before detailed numerical analyses. Moreover, the given closed-form formulations can be realized in CAD platforms easily for fast calculations. (C) 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Comparative investigation of resonance characteristics and electrical size of the double sided SRR BC SRR and conventional SRR type metamaterials for varying substrate parameters
EKMEKÇİ, EVREN; Sayan, Gönül (EMW Publishing, 2009-01-01)
This paper introduces a planar µ-negative (MNG) metamaterial structure, called double-sided split ring resonator (DSRR), which combines the features of a conventional SRR and a broadside-coupled SRR (BC-SRR) to obtain much better miniaturization at microwave frequencies for a given physical cell size. In this study, electromagnetic transmission characteristics of DSRR, BC-SRR and conventional SRR are investigated in a comparative manner for varying values of substrate parameters which are thickness, the rea...
Electrical characteristics of organic heterojunction with an alternating benzotriazole and fluorene containing copolymer
Gullu, H.H.; Yildiz, D.E.; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Çırpan, Ali (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2020-01-01)
The current–voltage (I−V) and capacitance–voltage (C−V) characteristics of the organic heterojunction diode were investigated in a wide temperature range from 80 to 320 K and frequency range from 10 kHz to 1 MHz, respectively. Alternative to the copolymer partner poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) to [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM), poly((9,9-dioctylfluorene)-2,7-diyl-(4,7-bis(thien-2-yl)2-dodecyl-benzo[1,2,3]triazole)) (named as copolymer in this work) was adapted to the bulk-heterojunction la...
SINGLE-, DUAL-, AND TRIPLE-BAND METAMATERIAL-INSPIRED ELECTRICALLY SMALL PLANAR MAGNETIC DIPOLE ANTENNAS
Turkmen, Oznur; Sayan, Gönül; Ziolkowski, Richard W. (Wiley, 2014-01-01)
The design and performance characteristics of metamaterial-inspired electrically small, single, dual and triple band antennas at the GSM (1.93-1.99 GHz), ISM (2.43-2.4835 GHz), and WiMAX (3.3-3.6 GHz) frequencies are reported. These antennas are based on a coaxially fed printed dipole integrated in a planar configuration with capacitively loaded loops (CLLs) as its near-field resonant parasitic radiators. In the proposed topology, the number of operating frequencies is determined by the number of CLLs. Thes...
On the Operating Principles of UWB, CPW-Fed Printed Antennas
Tanyer-Tigrek, F. Muge; Hizar, Altunkan; Lager, Ioan E.; Ligthart, Leonardus P. (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2010-06-01)
The working principles of coplanar-waveguide (CPW) -fed, ultra-wideband (UWB) printed antennas are investigated. The behavior of the current distributions at different frequencies are examined. The modifications in the current distributions when the phase of the currents changes lead us to some conclusions on the behavior of UWB antennas.
Extension of forward-backward method with DFT-based acceleration algorithm for the efficient analysis of large periodic arrays with arbitrary boundaries
Aydın Çivi, Hatice Özlem; Chou, HT (Wiley, 2005-11-05)
An extension of the discrete Fourier transform (DFT)-based forward-backward algorithm is developed using the virtual-element approach to provide a fast and accurate analysis of electromagnetic radiation/scattering front electrically large, planar, periodic, finite (phased) arrays with arbitrary boundaries. Both the computational complexity and storage requirements of this approach are O(N-tot) (N-tot is the total number of unknowns). The numerical results for both printed and freestanding dipole array's wit...
