CHORUS is an experiment searching for nu(mu) --> nu(tau) oscillation in the CERN wide band neutrino beam with a hybrid setup consisting of a nuclear emulsion target followed by electronic detectors. The experiment has been taking data from 1994 through 1997. A subset of the neutrino interactions collected in 1994 and 1995 have been analyzed, looking for nu(tau) charged current interactions where the tau lepton decays to mu(mu)nu(tau). In a sample of 31,423 nu(mu) charged current interactions, no nu(tau) candidates were found. For large Delta m(mu tau)(2) values, a limit on the mixing angle of sin(2)2 theta(mu tau) < 3.5 x 10(-3) at 90% C.L. can be set, thus improving the previous best result. Status of the CHORUS neutrino oscillation experiment
Pesen, E (Elsevier BV; 1999-01-01)
The CHORUS experiment is designed to search for nu(mu) --> nu(tau) oscillation with a hybrid detector system containing 800 kg nuclear emulsions as target and vertex detector. Run I (320 000 recorded nu(mu)CC in 1994/5) and more than half of the run II (460 000 nu(mu)CC in 1996/7) data taking have been successfully completed. Approximately 80 000 events have been analyzed so far, searching for tau(-) --> mu(-)(mu)nu(tau) and tau(-) --> h(-)(n pi(0))nu(tau) decays. No candidate has been found, leading to a l...
Search for neutral resonances decaying into a Z boson and a pair of b jets or tau leptons
Khachatryan, V.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2016-08-01)
A search is performed for a new resonance decaying into a lighter resonance and a Z boson. Two channels are studied, targeting the decay of the lighter resonance into either a pair of oppositely charged tau leptons or a b (b) over bar pair. The Z boson is identified via its decays to electrons or muons. The search exploits data collected by the CMS experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.8 fb(-1). No significant deviations are observed from the standar...
Determination of the semi-leptonic branching fraction of charm hadrons produced in neutrino charged-current interactions
Kayis-Topaksu, A; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2002-11-01)
During the years 1994-1997, the emulsion target of the CHORUS detector was exposed to the CERN-SPS Wide Band Neutrino Beam. The improvements of the past few years in the automatic emulsion scanning systems allowed a sample of events located in emulsion to be used for studies of charm production. Based on a sample of 56 172nu(mu) charged-current interactions analysed so far, we find a value of B-mu = 0.093+/-0.009(stat.) +/-0.009(syst.) for the semi-leptonic branching fraction of charm hadrons. The result fo...
kappa K*(0)gamma-vertex in light cone QCD sum rules
Gokalp, A.; SARAÇ OYMAK, YASEMİN; Yılmaz Tüzün, Özgül (American Physical Society (APS), 2008-06-01)
We investigate the kappa K*(0)gamma-vertex in the framework of light cone QCD sum rules. We estimate the coupling constant g(kappa K)*(0)gamma, and compare our result with that used in the nonlinear chiral Lagrangian approach using the vector-meson dominance model in the SU(3) limit.
Experimental study of trimuon events in neutrino charged-current interactions
Kayis-Topaksu, A; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2004-08-01)
This Letter reports on a study of trimuon events induced by neutrino interactions in the CHORUS calorimeter exposed to the CERN SPS wide-band v(mu) beam. Among the multimuon events produced in the calorimeter, 42 mu(-) mu(-) mu(+) events were selected and their kinematical properties investigated. In the past, several groups collected a sample of about one hundred events of this type but their source was largely unknown. Taking advantage of experimental data presently available on the production and muonic ...
