Observation of Biexcitons in Nanocrystal Solids in the Presence of Photocharging
Cihan, Ahmet Fatih; Martinez, Pedro Ludwig Hernandez; Keleştemur, Yusuf; Mutlugun, Evren; Demir, Hilmi Volkan (2013-06-01)
In nanocrystal quantum dots (NQDs), generating multiexcitons offers an enabling tool for enhancing NOD-based devices. However, the photocharging effect makes understanding multiexciton kinetics In NQD solids fundamentally challenging, which is critically important for solid-state devices. To date, this lack of understanding and the spectral temporal aspects of the multiexciton recombination still remain unresolved In solid NOD ensembles, which is mainly due to the confusion with recombination of carriers in...
Observation of Oscillatory Surface Reactions of Riboflavin, Trolox, and Singlet Oxygen Using Single Carbon Nanotube Fluorescence Spectroscopy
Sen, Fatih; Boghossian, Ardemis A.; Sen, Selda; Ulissi, Zachary W.; Zhang, Jingqing; Strano, Michael S. (2012-12-01)
Single-molecule fluorescent microscopy allows semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) to detect the adsorption and desorption of single adsorbate molecules as a stochastic modulation of emission intensity. In this study, we identify and assign the signature of the complex decomposition and reaction pathways of riboflavin in the presence of the free radical scavenger Trolox using DNA-wrapped SWCNT sensors dispersed onto an aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) coated surface. SWCNT emission is qu...
Observation of Medium-Induced Modifications of Jet Fragmentation in Pb-Pb Collisions at root s(NN)=5.02 TeV Using Isolated Photon-Tagged Jets
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (American Physical Society (APS), 2018-12-01)
Measurements of fragmentation functions for jets associated with an isolated photon are presented for the first time in pp and Pb-Pb collisions. The analysis uses data collected with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV. Fragmentation functions are obtained for jets with P-T(jet) 30 GeV/c in events containing an isolated photon with p(T)(gamma) 60 GeV/c, using charged tracks with transverse momentum p(T)(trk) > 1 GeV/c in a cone around the jet axis. The ass...
Observation of electroweak production of W gamma with two jets in proton-proton collisions at root s=13 TeV
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (2020-12-01)
A first observation is presented for the electroweak production of a W boson, a photon, and two jets in proton-proton collisions. The W boson decays are selected by requiring one identified electron or muon and an imbalance in transverse momentum. The two jets are required to have a high dijet mass and a large separation in pseudorapidity. The measurement is based on data collected with the CMS detector at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb(-1). The obser...
Observation of long-range, near-side angular correlations in proton-proton collisions at the LHC
Khachatryan, V.; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2010-09-01)
Results on two-particle angular correlations for charged particles emitted in proton-proton collisions at center-of-mass energies of 0.9, 2.36, and 7TeV are presented, using data collected with the CMS detector over a broad range of pseudorapidity (eta) and azimuthal angle (phi). Short-range correlations in Delta(eta), which are studied in minimum bias events, are characterized using a simple "independent cluster" parametrization in order to quantify their strength (cluster size) and their extent in eta (cl...
