A comparative analysis of fuzzy system modelling approaches: A case in mining medical diagnostic rules
Kilic, K; Uncu, O; Turksen, IB (2004-01-01)
Fuzzy system modeling approximates highly nonlinear systems by means of fuzzy if-then rules. In the literature, different approaches are proposed for mining fuzzy if-then rules from historical data. These approaches usually utilize fuzzy clustering in structure identification phase. In this research, we are going to analyze three possible approaches from the literature and try to compare their performances in a medical diagnosis classification problem, namely Aachen Aphasia Test. Given the fact that the com...
A quality-based approach to estimating quantitative elasticities for differentiated products: an application to retail milk demand
Gülseven, Osman (2015-09-01)
This article introduces the Hedonic Metric (HM) approach as an original method to model the demand for differentiated products using qualitative attributes. Our approach is based on a two-stage estimation procedure that utilizes qualitative characteristics of products. First, we create an n-dimensional hedonic space based on the qualitative information available to consumers. Next, we allocate the differentiated products into this space and estimate the quantitative demand elasticities for these products us...
A Formal Methods Approach to Pattern Recognition and Synthesis in Reaction Diffusion Networks
Bartocci, Ezio; Aydın Göl, Ebru; Haghighi, Iman; Belta, Calin (2018-03-01)
We introduce a formal framework for specifying, detecting, and generating spatial patterns in reaction diffusion networks. Our approach is based on a novel spatial superposition logic, whose semantics is defined over the quad-tree representation of a partitioned image. We demonstrate how to use rule-based classifiers to efficiently learn spatial superposition logic formulas for several types of patterns from positive and negative examples. We implement pattern detection as a model-checking algorithm and we ...
