3-D structure assisted reference view generation for H.264 based multi-view video coding
Gedik, O. Serdar; Oezkalayci, Burak; Alatan, Abdullah Aydın (2007-06-13)
A 3D geometry-based multi-view video coding (MVC) method is proposed. In order to utilize the spatial redundancies between multiple views, the scene geometry is estimated as dense depth maps. The dense depth estimation problem is modeled by using a Markov random field (MRF) and solved via the belief propagation algorithm. Relying on these depth maps of the scene, novel view estimates of the intermediate views of the multi-view set is obtained with a 3D warping algorithm, which also performs hole-filling in ...
3-D Face Recognition With Local Shape Descriptors
Inan, Tolga; Halıcı, Uğur (2012-04-01)
In this paper, we present a novel automatic approach based on local shape descriptors to discriminate 3-D facial scans of different individuals. Our approach begins with registration, smoothing and uniform resampling of 3-D face data. Then, uniformly resampled 3-D face data are used to generate shape index, curvedness, gaussian and mean curvature values on each point of the data. Hence we obtain 2-D matrices of shape index, curvedness, gaussian and mean curvature values representing 3-D geometry information...
Three-phase PWM rectifier driving a DC motor with minimizing inp t harmonics.

3-BODY SEGMENT DYNAMIC-MODEL OF THE HUMAN KNEE
Tümer, Sami Turgut (ASME International, 1993-11-01)
In this paper, a two-dimensional, three-body segment dynamic model of the human knee is introduced. The model includes tibio-femoral and patello-femoral articulations, and anterior cruciate, posterior cruciate, medial collateral, lateral collateral and patellar ligaments. It enables one to obtain dynamic response of the knee joint to any one or combination of quadriceps femoris, hamstrings, and gastrocnemius muscle actions, as well as any externally applied forces on the lower leg. A specially developed ...
3-dimensional boron-doped hydroxyapatite/baghdadite porous scaffolds for bone tissue engineering
Jodati, Hossein; Evis, Zafer; Şahin, Volkan; Department of Biomedical Engineering (2023-1-16)
A wide range of biomaterials is used to fabricate scaffolds for hard tissue engineering. However, perfect scaffolds with the required characteristics to answer all clinical needs have not been produced yet. In this thesis, a novel ceramic-based chemical combination of boron-doped hydroxyapatite (BHA) and baghdadite (BAG) was employed to fabricate composite 3-dimensional (3D) porous scaffolds to promote scaffolds’ properties. The ultimate goal was achieved through the following steps: 1) BHA powders with dif...
