An approach to paleoclimatic conditions for Devonian (upper Lochkovian and middle Givetian) ironstone formation, NW Anatolian carbonate platform
Yılmaz, İsmail Ömer; Göncüoğlu, Mehmet Cemal (2015-01-01)
Lower-middle Devonian iron-bearing successions were studied along 2 measured stratigraphic sections in the Camdag region of NW Anatolia. Ironstones in the upper part of the Findikli Formation in Kabalakdere are characterized by alternating red and green mudstones and sandstones at the bottom, followed by a series of dolomite, dolomitic limestone with oolitic ironstones, and chamositic mudstones at the top. Conodonts from these carbonates indicate the delta-pesavis zones of the late Lochkovian. The 12-to 45-...

An Approach to the Central Anatolian (Avanos) Late Mesozoic Magmatism: Petrology of Cogenetic Granitic and Volcanic Rocks.
Toksoy Köksal, Fatma; Köksal, Serhat (null; 2008-03-28)
The petrology of the granitic and volcanic rocks cropping out in Avanos (Nevşehir) area sheds light on the nature of magmatism in central Anatolia. In the region while granitoids intrude the Precambrian-Paleozoic-Mesozoic metamorphic basement rocks, volcanic rocks are found as dykes cutting granitoids and blocks in Late Cretaceous (?)- Early Paleocene olistostromal unit (Göncüoğlu et al., 1997; Köksal et al., 2001). The felsic intrusive rocks in the Avanos area are quartz-syenite and alkali-feldspar quartz...
A comparative formal investigation of the bath-gymnasium complex plan type in roman asia minor as a reflection of romanization and urban renewal
Dinler, Oya; Güven, Suna Naziyet; Department of History of Architecture (2007)
This thesis investigates the formal aspects of the bath-gymnasium complex plan type which was developed in Asia Minor during the Roman era in relation to the development of the the imperial thermae in Rome, the capital city of the Roman Empire. Close resemblances in the architectural configuration of bath-gymnasium complexes and imperial thermae are analyzed in order to provide complementary insight concernin the evolution of Roman bath architecture and bathing tradition. The comparative investigation of th...
