Testing Miocene Remagnetization of Bey Daglari: Timing and Amount of Neogene Rotations in SW Turkey
Van Hinsbergen, Douwe J. J.; Dekkers, Mark J.; Koc, Ayten (2010-01-01)
Here we reassess the timing and amount of rotation of the eastern limb of the Aegean orocline, located in SW Turkey. The current model for this orocline involves a 25-30 degrees counterclockwise (CCW) rotation of the Bey Daglari region, which exposes upper Cretaceous to Eocene platform carbonates and lower Miocene flysch deposits. In this model the rotation has to postdate a Miocene remagnetization, which would not exclude non-synchroneity between rotations of the western and eastern limbs of the Aegean oro...
Testing for unconditional convergence of Turkish regions and provinces using a time series approach
Özkan, Pelin; Erlat, Haluk; Department of Economics (2005)
This study investigates unconditional convergence of Turkish regions and provinces. A recently introduced time series procedure developed by Nahar and Inder (2002) is used to test the convergence hypothesis for the period 1975-2001. Both the Ordinary Least Square and the Seemingly Unrelated Regression techniques are applied to analyze convergence of sixty five provinces, seven geographical regions as well as 12 NUTS - 1 regions of Turkey. The empirical findings indicate that most of the cases yield no evide...
Testing nucleon strangeness in polarization effects for n+p -> d+eta
Koru, H; Rekalo, MP (World Scientific Pub Co Pte Lt, 1998-02-01)
Charge symmetry of strong interaction results in a simplified spin structure of amplitude for n + p --> d + eta in "orthogonal" kinematics, where the eta-production angle is equal to 90 degrees in CMS. The presence of singlet and triplet amplitudes in such kinematics induces a rich set of different polarization observables, sensitive to the relative value of these amplitudes. This can be used to test a hypothesis of singlet enhancement of eta-production in NN- and (N) over bar N-collisions, due to a nonpert...
