A state prediction scheme for discrete time nonlinear dynamic systems
Demirbaş, Kerim (Informa UK Limited, 2007-01-01)
A state prediction scheme is proposed for discrete time nonlinear dynamic systems with non-Gaussian disturbance and observation noises. This scheme is based upon quantization, multiple hypothesis testing, and dynamic programming. Dynamic models of the proposed scheme are as general as dynamic models of particle predictors, whereas the nonlinear models of the extended Kalman (EK) predictor are linear with respect to the disturbance and observation noises. The performance of the proposed scheme is compared wi...
A process model for component-oriented software engineering
Doğru, Ali Hikmet (2003-03-01)
The investigation of reuse has a long history, eventually maturing into the "build by integration" paradigm. Meanwhile, component technologies also improved along with engineering practices. What is missing is a methodology that uses components within such a paradigm, thus bridging the gap. The authors propose a model devoted to complete component orientation, rather than modifying object-oriented approaches to accommodate components. They investigate component-based technologies to address new needs and, c...
A modeling approach for cost control in construction

A measurement framework for component oriented software systems
Salman, Nael; Doğru, Ali Hikmet; Department of Computer Engineering (2006)
A measurement framework is presented for component oriented (CO) software systems. Fundamental concepts in component orientation are defined. The factors that influence CO systems’ structural complexity are identified. Metrics quantifying and characterizing these factors are defined. A set of properties that a CO complexity metric must satisfy are defined. Metrics are evaluated first using the set of properties defined in this thesis and also using the set of properties defined by Tian and Zelkowitz in [84]...
A methodology for reliability-based design of rock slopes
DUZGUN, HSB; Yücemen, Mehmet Semih; Karpuz, Celal (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2003-04-01)
A reliability-based methodology for the design of rock slopes, that can easily be implemented by the practicing engineers is proposed. The advanced first-order second-moment (AFOSM) method is adopted as the reliability assessment model and its application is illustrated for the case of plane failure. A model is developed within the framework of first-order second-moment approach to analyze the uncertainties underlying the in situ shear strength properties of rock discontinuities. Here, particular emphasis i...
