Effects of Epoxidation and Nitration on Ballistic Properties of FOX-7 A DFT Study
Türker, Burhan Lemi; Varis, Serhat (Wiley, 2013-05-01)
1, 1-Diamino-2, 2-dinitroethylene (FOX-7) has received increasing attention since it was industrialized in the late 1990s. It has lower sensitivity and comparable performance to RDX. This paper presents ballistic properties of FOX-7, its mono and dinitro derivatives and their epoxide derivatives computationally. The structures were optimized at the B3LYP/6-31G(d, p) level and the bond lengths were calculated. The calculated data for FOX-7 are compatible with the literature one. We have investigated the bond...
Effects of compaction parameters on heavy metal mass transport in Ankara clay liner: Experimental approach
Çamur, Mehmet Zeki; Yazıcıgil, Hasan (2007-01-01)
Mass transports of Cl, Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn ions through the Ankara clay liner prepared under two different compaction were studied experimentally on the bases of sorption and hydrodynamic dispersion processes. According to geotechnical tests, the Ankara clay material is highly plastic, inorganic clay having a liquid limit of 73, a plastic limit of 29 and a plasticity index of 44. Optimum compaction of the material requires 32% water content and 1.413 g/cm(3) dry density. Two materials, prep...
EFFECTS OF THERMAL AGING ON THE PROPERTIES AND LIFETIME PREDICTION OF HYDROXYL-TERMINATED POLYBUTADIENE
AKBAS, A; AKSOY, S (Elsevier BV, 1994-01-01)
Thermal ageing of hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene propellant binders was carried out at various temperatures between 50 and 100-degrees-C. The changes caused by this treatment in properties such as melt viscosity, functional end-groups, molecular weight, tensile strength, elastic modulus and ultimate elongation were examined. The viscosity and average molecular weight increased with the ageing temperature and ageing period. A decrease in ultimate elongation and an increase in elastic modulus were observed...

Periphyton communities play an important role in shallow lakes and are controlled by direct forces such as temperature, light, nutrients, and invertebrate grazing, but also indirectly by planktivorous fish predation. We performed a pan-European lake mesocosm experiment on periphyton colonization covering five countries along a north/south geographical/temperature gradient (Estonia, Germany, Czech Republic, Turkey, and Greece). Periphyton biomass on artificial polypropylene strips exposed at 50 cm water dept...
