Geochemistry of thermal waters and its relation to the volcanism in the Kizilcahamam (Ankara) area, Turkey
Güleç, Nilgün Türkan (Elsevier BV, 1994-01-01)
Thermal waters issuing through the Tertiary aged volcanics in the Kizilcahamam (Ankara) area are all alkali-bicarbonate waters with temperatures ranging from 28°C to 86°C. The waters from the town center (MTA-1 and KHD-1 drilling wells, Big Bath and Small Bath) have the highest temperature and an intermediate TDS content, in comparison to the waters sampled from the localities outside the town center (Mineral Water Spring and Sey Bath). The Mineral Water Spring is characterized by the lowest temperature and...
Geochemistry of mafic lavas from Sivas, Turkey and the evolution of Anatolian lithosphere
KÜRKCÜOĞLU, BİLTAN; Pickard, Megan; Sen, Pinar; Hanan, Barry B.; Sayıt, Kaan; Plummer, Charles; ŞEN, ERDAL; Yurur, Tekin; Furman, Tanya (2015-09-01)
Near-contemporaneous suites of mafic lavas from Sivas, Central Anatolia record different petrogenetic histories on the eastern and western sides of a major regional suture marked by the Kizihrmak River, The Sivas basaltic suite has major and trace element compositions suggesting derivation from an anhydrous peridotitic mantle source region. Basaltic trachyandesites in this group are related by up to similar to 65% fractional crystallization of the observed anhydrous mineral phases from a frequently-erupted ...
Geochemistry and apatite U-Pb geochronology of alkaline gabbros from the Nodoushan plutonic complex, Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone, Central Iran: Evidence for Early Palaeozoic rifting of northern Gondwana
Alavijeh, Badieh Shahsavari; Rashidnejad-Omran, Nematollah; Toksoy Köksal, Fatma; Chew, David; Szopa, Krzysztof; Ghalamghash, Jalil; Gaweda, Aleksandra (2019-07-01)
The Zagros Orogen formed during the Cenozoic collision of Arabia with Eurasia and resulted in the closure of the Neo-Tethys Ocean. Collision was preceded by a complicated tectonic history involving Pan-African orogenesis, Late Palaeozoic rifting and the formation of Neo-Tethys, and subsequent Mesozoic convergence on the northern margin of the ocean contemporaneous with ophiolite obduction on its southern margin. The Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone (SaSZ) is a metamorphic belt within the Zagros Orogen of Gondwanan prov...
