Stress Detection in Human-Computer Interaction: Fusion of Pupil Dilation and Facial Temperature Features
GÖKÇAY, DİDEM; Gökçay, Didem (2016-01-01)
In order to differentiate the affective state of a computer user as it changes from relaxation to stress, features derived from pupil dilation and periorbital temperature can be utilized. Absolute signal values and measurements computed from these can be fused to increase the accuracy of affective classification. In this study, entropy in a sliding window was used to accommodate the time differences in the physiological rise and fall profiles of pupil and thermal data. Two methods, decision tree and Adaboos...
Stress evolution of Ge nanocrystals in dielectric matrices
Bahariqushchi, Rahim; Raciti, Rosario; KASAPOGLU, Ahmet Emre; GÜR, Emre; Sezen, Meltem; Kalay, Yunus Eren; MIRABELLA, Salvatore; Aydınlı, Alptekin (2018-05-04)
Germanium nanocrystals (Ge NCs) embedded in single and multilayer silicon oxide and silicon nitride matrices have been synthesized using plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition followed by conventional furnace annealing or rapid thermal processing in N-2 ambient. Compositions of the films were determined by Rutherford backscattering spectrometry and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The formation of NCs under suitable process conditions was observed with high resolution transmission electron microscope mi...

Radiation induced chain addition of allylbenzene to 1,4-dioxane
Nesterov, SV; Kucukyavuz, S; Önal, Ahmet Muhtar (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 1999-06-01)
Radiation induced chain addition of allylbenzene to 1,4-dioxane has been studied by IR-, UV-, mass-, NMR- and ESR-spectrometry. Efficiency of the addition depends on the concentration of monomer and it has an optimum at C-monom<0.125M. Apparently, upper concentration limit of the reaction is caused by absorbed energy transfer on the molecule of monomer followed by energy deactivation. Radiation-chemical yields of the product are 12 and 31 molec./100 eV for 0.125M and 0.07M solution, respectively. The value ...
Stress Scaling Factors for Seismic Soil Liquefaction Engineering Problems: A Performance-Based Approach
Çetin, Kemal Önder; Bilge, Habib Tolga (2013-06-19)
Most of the widely used seismic soil liquefaction triggering methods propose cyclic resistance ratio (CRR) values valid at the reference normal effective stress (sigma(v,0)') of one atmosphere and zero static shear stress (tau(st,0)) states. Then, a series of correction factors are applied on this reference CRR, for the purpose of assessing the variability due to normal effective and static shear stress states (i.e. K-sigma and K-alpha corrections) acting on the horizontal plane. In the literature, a number...
