Multiband Microwave Metamaterials Based on Optimized Arrangements of Split-Ring Resonators
Ibili, H.; Keles, S.; Ergül, Özgür Salih (2019-01-01)
We present design and accurate simulations of multiband metamaterials that consist of three-dimensional arrangements of split-ring resonators (SRRs). In order to obtain multiband characteristics with resonances at multiple frequencies, SRRs with different sizes are arranged in well-designed grids. As opposed to unit cells with nested SRRs that are commonly used in the literature, using different-sized SRRs in array forms provide better flexibility in choosing resonance frequencies. On the other hand, strong...
Multiband Metamaterial Absorber Design Based on Plasmonic Resonances for Solar Energy Harvesting
Mulla, Batuhan; Sabah, Cumali (2016-10-01)
A new metamaterial absorber is designed and characterized numerically for the harvesting of solar energy. The design is composed of three layers in which the interaction among them gives rise to the plasmonic resonances. The main operation frequency range of the proposed structure is chosen to be the visible regime. However, the design is also analyzed for the infrared and ultraviolet regimes. In order to characterize the absorber, some parametric studies with respect to the dimensions of the structure are ...
Multidimensional quantum tunnelling formulation of oxygen-16 and uranium-238 reaction
Ataol, Murat Tamer; Yılmaz, Osman; Department of Physics (2004)
Multidimensional quantum tunnelling is an important tool that is used in many areas of physics and chemistry. Sub-barrier fusion reactions of heavy-ions are governed by quantum tunnelling. However, the complexity of the structures of heavy-ions does not allow us to use simple one-dimensional tunnelling equations to and the tunnelling probabilities. Instead of this one should consider all the degrees of freedom which affect the phenomenon and accordingly the intrinsic structure or the deformation of the nucl...

Multilayer Iterative Solutions of Large-Scale Electromagnetic Problems Using MLFMA
Ucuncu, Arif; Onol, Can; Ergül, Özgür Salih (2017-09-27)
We present multilayer solutions of large-scale electromagnetic problems using the multilevel fast multipole algorithm (MLFMA). With the conventional algebraic preconditioners based on the available near-field interactions, the cost of iterative solutions may exceed the linearithmic complexity, particularly for ill-conditioned systems, despite the efficient matrix-vector multiplications by MLFMA. We show that, using a multilayer approach employing approximate and full versions of MLFMA, the complexity can be...
