Tracking by classifications
Marpuç, Tuğhan; Yılmaz, Ali Özgür; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2013)
Novel online classifiers are examined and their applications on 2D visual tracking are analyzed in this study. Recently, an emerging class of methods, namely tracking by classification or tracking by detection, achieved quite promising results on challenging tracking data sets. These techniques train a classifier in an online manner during tracking to separate the object from its background. These methods only take input location of the object and a random feature pool; then, a classifier bootstraps itself ...
Optimization approaches for classification and feature selection using overlapping hyperboxes
Akbulut, Derya; Özdemirel, Nur Evin; İyigün, Cem; Department of Industrial Engineering (2019)
In this thesis, an optimization approach is proposed for the binary classification problem. A mixed integer programming (MIP) model formulation is used to generate hyperboxes as classifiers. The hyperboxes are determined by lower and upper bounds on the feature values, and overlapping of hyperboxes is allowed to reach a balance between misclassification and overfitting. For the test phase, distance-based heuristic algorithms are also developed to classify the overlap and uncovered samples that are not class...
Experiencing class differences: the case of subcontracted cleaning workers in METU dormitories
Erdemli, Öznur; Erdoğan, Necmi; Department of Political Science and Public Administration (2012)
This thesis aims at examining the class experiences of subcontracted cleaning workers who work in student dormitories on the METU campus. It focuses on the working conditions of workers and control mechanisms in the dormitories in terms of their effects on class consciousness and future dreams of the workers. In addition, the study examines how workers experience class as a matter of self-respect in their workplaces, how they cope with haughtiness of students, the managers and the regular employees, how the...
Experiencing class differences
Koptekin, Derya; Erdoğan, Necmi; Department of Media and Cultural Studies (2010)
This thesis aims to examine the class experiences of workers who work in food retail stores in Ankara. In this respect, it focuses on the structure of food retailing as interactive service work, working conditions of workers, stratification, fragmentation and unionization of workers in stores. In addition, it examines how workers experience class as a matter of self-esteem in their workplaces, how they cope with discourtesy of costumers, how they classify costumers and whether they develop a sense of depriv...
Nonstandard hulls of ordered vector spaces
Gül, Hasan; Emel'yanov, Eduard; Department of Mathematics (2015)
This thesis undertakes the investigation of ordered vector spaces by applying nonstandard analysis. We introduce and study two types of nonstandard hulls of ordered vector spaces. Norm-nonstandard hulls of ordered Banach spaces are also investigated
