IMAGING FLAWS CLOSE TO SURFACE USING FOCUSED SURFACE ACOUSTIC-WAVES

Imaging electrical current density using nuclear magnetic resonance
Eyüboğlu, Behçet Murat; Leıgh, John S (1998-01-01)
In this study, images of nonuniform and uniform electric current density in conductor phantoms, which contain magnetic resonance active nuclei, are produced using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). A standard spin echo pulse sequence is used, with the addition of a bipolar current pulse. The flux density parallel to the main magnetic field, generated by the current pulse, is encoded in the phase of the complex MR image. The spatial distribution of magnetic flux density is extracted from the phase image. Curr...
IMAGING THE ELECTRICAL ACTIVITY OF THE HEART USING A KALMAN FILTER BASED APPROACH: COMPARISON OF RESULTS USING DIFFERENT STM'S
Serinağaoğlu Doğrusöz, Yeşim (2009-07-01)
Kalman filter based solutions have been of particular interest in inverse problem of Electrocardiography (ECG) in recent years. One of the major problems with this approach however is the determination of the state transition matrix (STM) that relates the epicardial potentials at the current time instant to the potentials at the previous time instant. In this work, we use the solutions of Tikhonov regularization and Bayes-MAP algorithm to construct a STM, and we use these STMs in Kalman filtering. Our resul...
Imaging solar cells using terahertz waves
Kayra, Seda; Altan, Hakan; Department of Physics (2011)
In this thesis, Terahertz Time-Domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) was used in order to measure the electrical properties of silicon solar cells. The advantage of THz-TDS is that it allows us to measure the electrical properties without electrical contacts. In order to perform these measurements, a reflection based system was constructed and the changes in the peak amplitude in the time-domain under a, 450mW 808 nm continuous wave laser source were measured. The solar cell that was used in this thesis was manufac...
DETECTION OF CANCER STEM CELLS IN MICROSCOPIC IMAGES BY USING REGION COVARIANCE AND CODIFFERENCE METHOD
Oguz, Oguzhan; Muenzenmayer, Christian; Wittenberg, Thomas; ÜNER, AYŞEGÜL; ÇETİN, AHMET ENİS; Atalay, Rengül (2015-10-30)
This paper presents a cancer stem cell detection method using region covariance and codifference method. It focuses on detection of Cancer Stem Cell (CSC) in microscopic images which are stained with CD13 marker. Features of CSC images are extracted by using both covariance method and its multiplication free version codifference method and these features are fed into a Support Vector Machine (SVM) for classification. Experimental results are presented.
