Structural evolution of the Gediz Graben, SW Turkey: temporal and spatial variation of the graben basin
Ciftci, N. B.; Bozkurt, Erdin (Wiley, 2010-12-01)
The structural evolution of the Miocene to Recent Gediz Graben is intimately related to the evolution of its southern margin. This margin is shaped by a time-transgressive, composite structure that possesses flat-ramp geometry with three separate dip domains: a low-angle shallow segment; a steeper middle segment; and a low-angle deeper segment. This geometry was probably produced by one of two mechanisms, which operated perpendicular to the general trend of the graben, resulting in gradual back-rotation fol...
Structural relationships and kinematics of the Neoarchean Dengfeng forearc and accretionary complexes, southern North China craton
Huang, Bo; Kusky, Timothy; Wang, Lu; Polat, Ali; Fu, Dong; Windley, Brian; Deng, Hao; Wang, Junpeng (Geological Society of America, 2019-05-01)
The ca. 2.54-2.51 Ga Dengfeng greenstone belt in the southern section of the Central orogenic belt of the North China craton consists of structurally juxtaposed slices of meta-ultramafic, metamafic, and felsic igneous rocks, metasedimentary rocks, including minor banded iron formation. The complex was metamorphosed to greenschist to amphibolite facies at ca. 2.5 Ga and intruded by ca. 2.50-2.42 Ga mafic and felsic plutons/dikes. Detailed field mapping and structural analyses show that the different lithostr...

Structural geology of Abu Sari auriferous veins in Northern Sudan: an example for shear-hosted mesothermal gold mineralization in greenstone belts
Atalar, Erdem; Bozkurt, Erdin; Department of Geological Engineering (2019)
The gold mineralized quartz vein system has been discovered within the Proterozoic Nubian Shield in the Sudan Northern State Dongola city, Abu Sari Region at North East Africa. Northern Sudan forms part of the Proterozoic Nubian Shield and consists of mainly accreted oceanic terranes that were sutured to Gondwana during the Pan-African orogeny during approximately 810 to 580 My time interval. Mesothermal gold mineralization formed towards the end of ~550 to 600 my interval, during collisional deformation ...
