VHF suspended plate transmitter antenna design for DVB-T and DAB-T
Ali, Abdul; Ciydem, Mehmet; ALTINTAŞ, AYHAN; Koç, Seyit Sencer (2018-06-01)
This paper presents the design of stacked suspended plate transmitter antenna for digital video and audio broadcasting. Contrary to conventional dipole structures, we have designed the antenna in VHF band (174-254MHz) with two plates for wideband matching and design flexibility. Radiating primary plate has been excited by novel wideband modified inverted L-type probe. Parasitic secondary plate, and vertical wall between primary plate, and ground plane have been used for further matching and beamwidth adjust...
Broadband analogue predistortion using a distortion generator based on two-stage RF mixer topology
Nesimoglu, Tayfun (2018-01-01)
An analogue predistorter using a distortion generator based on a two-stage radio frequency mixer topology is presented. The proposed distortion generator achieves fundamental signal cancellation without using a signal cancellation loop or a resonant circuit, thus it generates an error signal that predominantly consists of unwanted intermodulation distortion (IMD). Measurements are performed using multi-tones, WLAN- and Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA)-modulated signals. Distortion generator provides high l...

BROADBAND HIGH EFFICIENCY RF POWER AMPLIFIER DESIGN BASED ON MODIFIED CLASS-J APPROACH WITH APPLICATIONS USING GAN HEMT TECHNOLOGY
Koç, Murat; Demir, Şimşek; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2021-9-29)
RF power amplifiers have been the essential elements of any transmit/receive block. Especially in the transmit chain, some applications require high RF power, such as radar, jammer, telecommunication signals targeting a wide range of coverage. High power requirements in RF broadcast mean high supply power to feed RF PA. The efficiency parameter of a high-power transmission system becomes an issue due to heating problems and performance degradation depending on rising temperatures. The heating problem is com...
Broadband terahertz modulators using self-gated graphene capacitors
Kakenov, Nurbek; Balci, Osman; Polat, Emre O.; Altan, Hakan; KOCABAŞ, COŞKUN (2015-09-01)
We demonstrate a terahertz intensity modulator using a graphene supercapacitor which consists of two large-area graphene electrodes and an electrolyte medium. The mutual electrolyte gating between the graphene electrodes provides very efficient electrostatic doping with Fermi energies of 1 eV and a charge density of 8 x 10(13) cm(-2). We show that the graphene supercapacitor yields more than 50% modulation between 0.1 and 1.4 THz with operation voltages less than 3 V. The low insertion losses, high modulati...
