A Multi-scale approach to characterization of volcanic natural pozzolans/
Sassani, Alireza; Turanlı, Lütfullah; Meral, Çağla; Department of Civil Engineering (2014)
Three types of volcanic rocks, namely perlite, a zeolite-rich volcanic tuff and a feldspar-rich volcanic tuff were selected to represent the general group of Volcanic Natural Pozzolans (VNPs). The target group was those volcanic natural pozzolans which intrinsically possess pozzolanic properties, i.e. do not require heat-treatment to obtain pozzolanic reactivity. X-ray Fluorescence (XRF), Powder X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Blaine air permeability test, Laser diffraction, thermogravimetry (TGA), solid-state 29S...
A Causal mapping approach for the analysis of construction disputes
Tanrıverdi, Cenk; Dikmen Toker, İrem; Department of Civil Engineering (2019)
Containing various work disciplines, numerous stakeholders, and relatively extensive procedures due to its nature, disputes are frequently encountered in construction projects. The fact that disputes can have devastating effects on success of projects in terms of both time and cost to both parties involved when not dealt with care, makes a clear understanding of how and why disputes occur in construction projects an important research topic. Previous studies on this subject has mostly yielded only exhaustiv...
A Collaborative Process Based Risk Analysis for Information Security Management Systems
Karabacak, Bilge; Özkan Yıldırım, Sevgi (2010-04-09)
Today, many organizations quote intent for ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certification. Also, some organizations are en route to certification or already certified. Certification process requires performing a risk analysis in the specified scope. Risk analysis is a challenging process especially when the topic is information security. Today, a number of methods and tools are available for information security risk analysis. The hard task is to use the best fit for the certification. In this work we have proposed a pro...
A verification approach for dynamics of metamodel based conceptual models of the mission space
Eryılmaz, Utkan; Bilgen, Semih; Department of Information Systems (2011)
Conceptual models were introduced in the simulation world in order to describe the problem domain in detail before any implementation is attempted. One of the recent approaches for conceptual modeling of the military mission space is the KAMA approach which provides a process description, a UML based notation, and a supporting tool for developing conceptual models. The prominence of the approach stems from availability of guidance and applications in real life case studies. Although the credibility of a con...
A quantitative analysis of cost-push shocks and optimal inflation volatility
Senay, Ozge; Sutherland, Alan (Informa UK Limited, 2008-01-01)
This article presents a quantitative analysis of optimal inflation volatility in a simple sticky-price general equilibrium model subject to both supply and cost-push shocks. It is found that optimal policy implies a relatively small degree of inflation volatility even when cost-push shocks are the dominant source of economic disturbance. In addition, it is found that optimal policy generates only a very small welfare gain when compared to strict inflation targeting.
