Micro fluxgate sensor with cascaded planar ring cores
Zorlu, O.; Kejik, P.; Teppan, W. (2009-09-09)
In this paper, we present a new microfabricated fluxgate sensor structure having cascaded planar rings as the ferromagnetic core. A circular magnetic excitation is provided with a rod passing through the FeNi rings as a sewing thread. Planar coils placed under the edges of the core are used as sensing elements. The sensing coils and the excitation rod are made of AlSi, and the planar FeNi ferromagnetic core is electroplated in between the excitation rod metallization. The sensor with 18 cascaded cores has 6...
Micro-Doppler analysis of rotary-wing air vehicles using pulsed-Doppler radar
Aybar, Bahadir; Yılmaz, Ali Özgür (2018-07-05)
In this paper, micro-Doppler signatures of rotary-wing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are investigated in order to classify these air targets, to distinguish them from birds and clutter and to specify their types using experimental data. Radar parameters required for extracting the micro-Doppler signatures of rotary-wing air targets with different blade lengths are studied. Experimental data taken from different targets using a medium Pulse Repetition Frequency (PRF) pulsed-Doppler surveillance radar is an...

Micro processing by intense fast electron beam
Goktas, H; Kirkici, H; Oke, G; Udrea, M (2001-06-22)
Generation of intense electron beams by superposing two discharges, namely a low pressure do glow discharge and a high current pulsed discharge at pressures and voltages very similar to that of the pseudo-spark gap devices, has been reported previously [1, 2]. The small diameter, high peak current and short pulse length are the characteristics of the electron beam generated using this technique. In this technique, no high vacuum facilities are necessary, and many applications such as micro processing, X-ray...
Micro architected porous material with high strength and controllable stiffness
Pikul, James H.; Özerinç, Sezer; Zhang , Runyu; Braun, Paul V.; King, William P. (2016-01-28)
This paper reports the engineering of large area cellular solids with controllable stiffness and specific strengths up to 230 MPa/(Mg/m(3)), which is stronger than most high strength alloys including 4143 steel and Ti-6Al-4V. The high strength arises from the size-based strengthening of the mn-sized struts. The cellular solid's porosity can be varied from 30 to 90% to control the specific stiffness from 4 - 20 GPa/(Mg/m(3)). The cellular solid's regular microporous architecture and self assembly based fabri...
