On The Optimality of Maisel Sidelobe Blanking System
Coskun, Osman; Candan, Çağatay (2015-05-19)
We present an optimal sidelobe blanker (SLB) detector for Swerling-0, Swerling-1 and Swerling-3 targets and compare the performances of the suggested detector with the classical Maisel SLB structure. The optimal SLB detector depends on the signal to noise ratio (SNR) and jammer to noise ratio (JNR) values and may not be practical for implementation in many applications. The goal of this work is to compare the Maisel structure with the optimal detector which utilizes additional information on target and jamm...
On lexicon creation for turkish LVCSR
Kadri, Hacıoğlu; Bryan, Pellom; Çiloğlu, Tolga; Öztürk, Özlem; Mikko, Kurimo; Mathias, Creutz (null; 2003-09-14)
In this paper, we address the lexicon design problem in Turkish large vocabulary speech recognition. Although we focus only on Turkish, the methods described here are general enough that they can be considered for other agglutinative languages like Finnish, Korean etc. In an agglutinative language, several words can be created from a single root word using a rich collection of morphological rules. So, a virtually infinite size lexicon is required to cover the language if words are used as the basic units. T...
On the Implementation of Optimal Receivers for LFM Signals using Fractional Fourier Transform
Candan, Çağatay (2008-05-30)
We present a novel receiver structure for the detection and parameter estimation of linear frequency modulated signals. The proposed structure is based on the relations between the fractional Fourier transform and the ambiguity function. It has been shown that the optimal ML receiver, which is the peak detector in the ambiguity plane, can be implemented at a reduced search complexity with the proposed method. The proposed method uses two 1-dimensional search operations in two different fractional Fourier do...
On channel capacity of FSO communication systems in anisotropic non-Kolmogorov strong turbulent atmosphere
Ata, Yalcin (The Optical Society, 2019-09-01)
Average channel capacity of free space optical (FSO) communication systems using a Gaussian beam with the intensity modulation and direct detection technique is investigated in anisotropic non-Kolmogorov strong turbulent atmosphere. The channel model is selected as gamma-gamma distribution, which is valid for strong turbulence. Obtained results show that anisotropy in both the horizontal and vertical affects the average channel capacity of an FSO communication system positively. Average channel capacity inc...
