Electromagnetic shielding effectiveness of galvanostatically synthesized conducting polypyrrole films in the 300-2000 MHz frequency range
Kaynak, A (1996-07-01)
Both far-field (plane wave) and near field shielding effectiveness (SE) measurements have been conducted on electrochemically synthesized conducting polypyrrole(PPy) films with wide ranging conductivity levels (10(-2) S/cm to 45 S/cm). Go-axial transmission line, TEM test cell and TE(10) waveguide techniques were employed to measure shielding effectiveness as a function of polymer conductivity, frequency and temperature. Highly doped polypyrrole films exhibited shielding levels, above 40 dB from 300 MHz to ...
Electromagnetic energy harvesting and density sensor application based on perfect metamaterial absorber
Bakir, Mehmet; KARAASLAN, MUHARREM; Dincer, Furkan; Akgol, Oguzhan; Sabah, Cumali (World Scientific Pub Co Pte Lt, 2016-08-10)
The proposed study presents an electromagnetic (EM) energy harvesting and density sensor application based on a perfect metamaterial absorber (MA) in microwave frequency regime. In order to verify the absorption behavior of the structure, its absorption behavior is experimentally tested along with the energy harvesting and sensing abilities. The absorption value is experimentally found 0.9 at the resonance frequency of 4.75 GHz. In order to harvest the EM energy, chips resistors are used. In addition, the s...
Electromagnetic Signal Processing for Feature Extraction and Classification of Lossy Dielectric Targets
Sayan, Gönül (2013-08-15)
This paper presents the application of a real-time electromagnetic target classification technique to recognize dispersive dielectric objects with varying loss characteristics. The suggested classifier design technique is operative at the resonance region and is based on the use of Singularity Expansion Method (SEM) to represent a given electromagnetic scatterer by its natural response. A multi-aspect database of wide band scattered signals are processed to extract target features with the ultimate aim of t...

Electromagnetic Target Classification using time frequency analysis and neural networks
Sayan, Gönül; Leblebicioğlu, Mehmet Kemal (Wiley, 1999-04-01)
This paper demonstrates the feasibility and advantages of using a self-organizing map (SOM)-type neural network classifier for electromagnetic target recognition. The classifier is supported by a novel feature extraction unit in which the Wigner distribution (WD), a time-frequency representation, is utilized for the extraction of natural-resonance-related energy feature vectors from scattered fields. The proposed target classification technique is tested for a set of canonical targets, displaying an excelle...
