Part of the neutrino events collected in 1994-1995 by the CHORUS experiment has been analysed. A search was performed for nu(tau) charged current interactions followed by the tau lepton decay into a single charged negative hadron, a possible indication for nu(mu) --> nu(tau) oscillation. A sample of 6844 events without an identified muon has been located in the emulsion target. Within the selection criteria, no tau(-) candidate has been found. Combining this result with the one from the search fur nu(tau) interactions using the muonic decay mode (36182 events with an identified muon), a 90% C.L. limit on the mixing angle sin(2)2 theta(mu tau) < 1.8.10(-3) (at large Delta m(2)) has been derived. Search for supersymmetry (susy) wıth topologıcal varıables at the LHC
Ünal, Mesut; Zeyrek, Mehmet Tevfik; Çakır, Muammer Altan; Department of Physics (2015)
The primary purpose of this thesis is to compare the effects on signal significance of the topological variables, W-stransverse mass ($M^W_{T2}$) and topness, which would be used in Supersymmetry searches in the single lepton channels in the future collider experiments. In this thesis, Stau-coannihilation scenarios were used as signal samples along with the four major background events, $t\bar{t}$+jets, boson+jets, single top+jets, and diboson, of supersymmetric top squark pair production and cascade decays...
Search for B-S(0) -> mu(+)mu(-) and B-0 -> mu(+)mu(-) decays
Chatrchyan, S.; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2012-04-01)
A search for the rare decays B-S(0) -> mu(+)mu(-) and B-0 -> mu(+)mu(-) performed in pp collisions at root s = 7 TeV, with a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5 fb(-1) collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC. In both decays, the number of events observed after all selection requirements is consistent with the expectation from background plus standard model signal predictions. The resulting upper limits on the branching fractions are B(B-S(0) -> mu(+)mu(-)) mu(+)mu(-) ) < 1.8 x 10(...
Search for B-s(0) -> mu(+)mu(-) and B-0 -> mu(+)mu(-) Decays in pp Collisions at root s=7 TeV
Chatrchyan, S.; et. al. (2011-11-01)
A search for the rare decays B-s(0) --> mu(+)mu(-) and B-0 --> mu(+)mu(-) is performed in pp collisions at root s = 7 TeV, with a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.14 fb(-1), collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC. In both cases, the number of events observed after all selection requirements is consistent with expectations from background and standard-model signal predictions. The resulting upper limits on the branching fractions are B(B-s(0) --> mu(+)mu(-)) mu(+)mu(-)) < 4.6 x...
Search for neutral MSSM Higgs bosons decaying to a pair of tau leptons in pp collisions
Khachatryan, V.; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2014-10-01)
A search for neutral Higgs bosons in the minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model (MSSM) decaying to tau-lepton pairs in pp collisions is performed, using events recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 24.6 fb−1, with 4.9 fb−1 at 7 TeV and 19.7 fb−1 at 8 TeV. To enhance the sensitivity to neutral MSSM Higgs bosons, the search includes the case where the Higgs boson is produced in association with a b-quark jet. No excess is observed in ...
Search for charged Higgs bosons in the H-+/- -> tau(+/-)nu(tau) decay channel in proton-proton collisions at s=13 TeV
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2019-07-01)
A search is presented for charged Higgs bosons in the H-+/- -> tau(+/-)nu(tau) decay mode in the hadronic final state and in final states with an electron or a muon. The search is based on proton-proton collision data recorded by the CMS experiment in 2016 at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb(-1). The results agree with the background expectation from the standard model. Upper limits at 95% confidence level are set on the production cross section times b...
