Investigation of vibrational, elastic and dielectric properties of cubic gauche nitrogen (cg-N)

2021-06-01
Vibrational, elastic and dielectric properties of the cubic gauche nitrogen (cg-N) are investigated by analyzing the Raman optic and zone-center phonon modes using the literature data. From the pressure dependence of those Raman modes and the volume data, the isothermal mode Grüneisen parameter is determined, which increases with the pressure in the cg-N structure. A linear variation is obtained between the Raman frequency shifts and the elastic anharmonicity within the pressure range (0−360 GPa) studied for the cubic gauche nitrogen. Regarding the dielectric properties of the cg-N, frequency dependence of the dielectric permittivity is predicted for the Raman modes at constant pressures and the Cole-Cole plots are constructed for this structure. Our results can be examined by the experimental measurements for the cubic gauche nitrogen when available in the literature.

Temperature and Pressure Effect on the Raman Frequencies Calculated from the Crystal Volume in the gamma-Phase of Solid Nitrogen
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2015-09-01)
The temperature and pressure dependences of the Raman frequencies of the lattice modes (E-g and B-1g modes) and of an internal mode (2331 cm(-1)) are predicted using the observed molar volume data from the literature in the gamma-phase of solid N-2. This calculation is carried out by means of the mode Gruneisen parameter of each Raman mode in the gamma-phase of solid nitrogen. Our results show that the predicted Raman frequencies of the E-g mode increase as the pressure increases. The Raman frequencies of t...
Calculation of the soft mode frequency for the alpha beta transition in quartz
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (null; 2015-09-18)
The Raman frequencies of the lattice modes (147 cm-1 and 207 cm-1 are analyzed for the α-β transition in quartz according to a power-law formula with the critical exponent by using the experimental data. The temperature dependence of the Raman frequency is associated with the order parameter (polarization P) for this transition in the quartz crystal. The damping constant of the lattice modes studied here is calculated using the Raman frequencies at various temperatures for the α-β transition in quartz (Tc =...

Akay, Özge; Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit; Department of Physics (2020-11)
In this thesis, the physical properties of solid nitrogen are investigated in a wide range of temperature and pressure by analyzing experimental data from the literature. For this investigation, various models are implemented to the experimental data in order to evaluate observed behavior of thermodynamic and spectroscopic properties of solid nitrogen. By means of the calculating Grüneisen parameter which depends on the volume, the pressure and temperature dependence of the Raman and IR frequencies are estima...
Raman frequencies calculated as functions of temperature and pressure using volume data for solid phase I of benzene
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (2017-01-01)
Raman frequencies of six lattice modes are calculated as a function of pressure using the volume data from the literature by means of the isothermal mode Gruneisen parameter (gamma(T)) for the solid phase I of benzene. We find that by determining the yr decreasing, the Raman frequencies calculated for the phonon modes increase with increasing pressure in this solid phase of benzene, which agree with the observed Raman data. We also predict the T-P phase diagram between the solid phases of I and I' by using ...

The structural, mechanical, electronic and lattice dynamical properties of the PrYbO3 compound from the ABO(3)-type perovskite family have been investigated by performing the first-principles density functional theory calculations using the generalized-gradient approximation (GGA) with corrected Coulomb interactions (GGA+U). Structural parameters, formation energies and phase transition pressures for the five possible phases of this compound have been calculated. Then, the spin-dependent electronic band str...
