Water scenarios for Europe and for Neighbouring States (SCENES)
Çakmak, Erol Hasan(2011-4-30)
The SCENES project will develop and analyse a set of comprehensive scenarios of Europe's freshwater futures up to 2025, covering all of Greater Europe reaching to the Caucasus and Ural Mountains, and including the Mediterranean rim countries of north Africa and the near East. These scenarios will provide a reference point for long term strategic planning of European water resource development, alert policymakers and stakeholders about emerging problems, and allow river basin managers to test regional and lo...

WATER SENSITIVE URBAN DESIGN: A TRANSFORMATIVE APPROACH AS PART OF THE URBAN FORM
Sözer, Tuğçe; Akkar Ercan, Zübeyde Müge; Urban Design in City and Regional Planning Department (2022-1-21)
Water is life, and life on earth depends on water or suffers from lack of it. Although it is not a new phenomenon, water issues are still critical socially, economically, and environmentally. It is not just a natural source but also has a significant role in the urban water cycle. Water is a renewable but finite resource that is under increasing pressure to meet the demands of climate change, rapid urbanization, neoliberal policies, and unequal distribution since it is perceived as an infinite source and a ...
Water Resources Assessment of Northern Cyprus for a Sustainable Management
Hilal, Adnan Yaser Adnan; Bozkaya Schrotter, Bengü; Akıntuğ, Bertuğ; Sustainable Environment and Energy Systems (2021-2-11)
Increasing world population and industrialisation lead to a rapid rise in water consumption and demand. As a result, both surface and sub-surface water resources were overexploited in most parts of the world, including Northern Cyprus in the Eastern Mediterranean region over the past years. In this study, the spatial distribution and temporal variation of daily, monthly, seasonal and yearly rainfall patterns in Northern Cyprus are analysed using Concentration Index, Precipitation Concentration Index, Season...
WATER-ADSORPTION ON THE SI(110) SURFACE
ALHAYEK, I; Katırcıoğlu, Şenay (1993-04-20)
In this work, a number of density of states calculations are carried out to investigate the adsorption forms of H2O on Si(110). The TDOS calculated by the empirical tight binding method lead to a dissociative type of adsorption of H2O on Si(110) and not to molecular adsorption.
