Tensile-Creep Test Specimen Preparation Practices of Surface Support Liners
Güner, Doğukan; Öztürk, Hasan (2017-09-15)
Ground support has always been considered as a challenging issue in all underground operations. Many forms of support systems and supporting techniques are available in the mining/tunnelling industry. In the last two decades, a new polymer based material, Thin Spray-on Liner (TSL), has attained a place in the market as an alternative to the current areal ground support systems. Although TSL provides numerous merits and has different application purposes, the knowledge on mechanical properties and performanc...
Tensile mode fracture toughness experiments on andesite rock using disc and semi-disc bend geometries with varying loading spans
Tutluoglu, Levent; Batan, Ceren; Aliha, M.R.M. (2022-06-01)
Purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of loading span on mode I fracture toughness for tests conducted by three-point bend geometries. Mode I fracture toughness tests were conducted on Ankara Golbasi Andesite with straight notched disc bending (SNDB) specimens of thicknesses 50 mm and 60 mm. Loading spans were varied in a wide range between 40 mm and 90 mm corresponding to span/radius ratios of S/R = 0.40 to 0.90. Three-point bend tests were conducted with the semi-circular bending (SCB) cor...

Tensile properties and microstructure of additively manufactured Grade 91 steel for nuclear applications
Eftink, Benjamin P.; Vega, Daniel A.; El Atwani, Osman; Sprouster, David J.; Yoo, Yung Suk J.; Steckley, Todd E.; Aydoğan Güngör, Eda; Cady, Carl M.; Al-Sheikhly, Mohamad; Lienert, Thomas J.; Maloy, Stuart A. (Elsevier BV, 2021-02-01)
© 2020 Elsevier B.V.Laser powder bed additively manufactured Grade 91 composition steel was investigated in comparison to wrought Grade 91 steel in terms of microstructure and mechanical properties. As-deposited additively manufactured Grade 91 steel had a microstructure of lower bainitic regions surrounded by martensite. This is significantly different from the typical tempered martensitic microstructure of conventionally produced Grade 91 steel. The as-deposited additively manufactured material had excell...
