With the discovery of the doubly heavy Xi(cc) baryon, comprehensive studies of the properties of the doubly heavy baryons are started. In the present work, we examine the Xi(bb) -> Sigma(b)l(+)l(-) and Xi(cc) -> Sigma(c)l(+)l(-) decays induced by flavor-changing neutral currents (FCNC) in the framework of the light-cone sum rules. After obtaining the sum rules for the form factors induced by the tensor current, the branching ratios of the relevant transitions are estimated. We found that the branching ratio for the c -> u transition is around five orders smaller than the b -> d transition. Our findings are also compared with other approaches.

Strange hadron production in pp and pPb collisions at root(NN)-N-s=5.02 TeV
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (2020-06-01)
The transverse momentum (pT) distributions of Lambda, Xi(-), and Omega(-) baryons, their antiparticles, and K-S(0) mesons are measured in proton-proton (pp) and proton-lead (pPb) collisions at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV over a broad rapidity range. The data, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 40.2 nb(-1) and 15.6 mu b(-1) for pp and pPb collisions, respectively, were collected by the CMS experiment. The nuclear modification factor R-pPb, which is defined as the ratio of the...
Strong decay constants of heavy tensor mesons in light cone QCD sum rules
Alhendi, H. A.; Alıyev, Tahmasıb; Savcı, Mustafa (2016-04-11)
Strong decay constants of the heavy tensor to heavy pseudoscalar (vector) and light pseudoscalar mesons are estimated within the light cone QCD sum rules. It is observed that the values of these coupling constants show a significant dependence on the choice of the Lorentz structure. Additionally, the decay widths of these mesons are calculated and discussed within the light of experimental data. A comparison of our results on these coupling constants with the predictions from the 3-point sum rules is perfor...
mu+N ->tau+N at a muon or neutrino factory
Sher, M; Turan, İsmail (American Physical Society (APS), 2004-01-01)
The experimental discovery of large nu(mu)-nu(tau) mixing indicates that analogous mixing in the charged lepton sector could be substantial. We consider the possibility that if a high intensity muon beam, perhaps at the early stages of a muon or neutrino factory, strikes a nuclear target, then conversion of some of the muons into tau leptons could occur (similar to the conversion of muons to electrons at MECO). Using current experimental limits on rare tau decays to bound the size of the relevant operators,...
Strong and electromagnetic decays of the radially excited D-s and B-s mesons in light cone QCD sum rules
Bilmiş, Selçuk (2021-10-01)
Recently, LHCb Collaboration announced the discovery of radial excitations of D-s and B-s mesons. In present work, we calculate the most promising strong and electromagnetic decay widths of radially excited D-s (2S) and B-s (2S) mesons within the light cone QCD sum rules method.
Spectral analysis of an ultraluminous X-ray source Swift J0243.6+6124
Islamov, Gubad; Baykal, Altan; Department of Physics (2021-9)
In this thesis, the spectral analysis on the first galactic ultraluminous X-ray pulsar Swift J0243.6+6124 has been carried out. This peculiar object has been firstly observed by Swift observatory during its outburst in the late 2017 – early 2018 and it is a part of a Be/X-ray binary system. Observations obtained from NuSTAR observatory have been utilized in this study. The analysis showed that the source underwent drastic changes from the beginning of its outburst stage, during the peak of the outburst and...
