Prof Dr. Engin Karaesmen after graduating from Antalya Dumlupınar Primary School, he completed his middle and high school education at TED Ankara College and then graduated from METU Department of Civil Engineering in 1965. After receiving his Master’s degree, he started to work in his department as an assistant. He completed his doctoral studies in Engineering Sciences and conducted research in Applied Mechanics in the same department and then continued his studies as an instructor at Department of Civil Engineering. Between 1976 and 1982, he also held administrative positions such as Dean of Student Affairs and Head of Engineering Sciences Department. Although he retired from ODTÜ in 2006, he still continues to teach and tries to show his commitment to this institution. Engin Karaesmen, whose wife is also an instructor at METU, has three children graduated from METU and four grandchildren.
