Şafak Uzsoy

Şafak Uzsoy began to teach as a part-time instructor at Middle East Technical University while he was working at the Ministry of Public Works Fuel Unit. Since October 1, 1960, he has been a full time faculty member at METU. He gave structural analysis course at the Department of Civil Engineering. After he had received his PhD at University of London Imperial College, he returned to METU Department of Civil Engineering and gave lectures until 1967. In 1967, he was appointed as Founding Chairman of Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Department of Computer Engineering) at Middle East Technical University and worked there until 1972. He was appointed as Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at University of Zambia in 1972 and worked there for 5 years before he returned to Turkey. He worked as a Technical Consultant at Turkish Electricity Administration for a while. He was appointed as Professor of Civil Engineering at Ege University in 1977.
