Mehmet Şadi Çalık, who was one of the pioneers of Turkish contemporary sculpture, studied at Istanbul Academy of Fine Arts between 1940 and 1948. Between 1950 and 1951, he worked in Paris. Çalık, who is a lecturer in the Sculpture Department of State Academy of Fine Arts, worked on materials such as gypsum, bronze, iron and wood. The artist started his work in the Neoclassical style. In addition, he created artworks in abstract and minimalist styles.
