Influence of peak ground velocity on seismic failure probability
Sucuoğlu, Haluk; Erberik, Murat Altuğ; Yücemen, Mehmet Semih (1999-06-10)
This study focuses on the damage potential of earthquake ground motions based on the inelastic dynamic response of equivalent single degree of freedom structures. Their yield resistances are selected in accordance with seismic design codes. An index accounting for the accumulation of damage due to inelastic excursions is used to represent structural damage. A set of 94 ground motions are employed for this analysis, which are all scaled to the same peak ground acceleration of 0.4 g. Earthquake ground motions...

Influence of ground motion scaling methods on seismic response of highway bridges
Gözütok Gündüz, Merve; Yakut, Ahmet; Yılmaz, Mustafa Tolga; Department of Earthquake Studies (2022-8-29)
Seismic behavior of bridges is a vital issue for all earthquake prone countries. Accurate seismic analysis of bridges is important because bridges are one of the most important transportation networks in Turkiye which is an earthquake prone country located on three main fault lines as Northern Anatolia Fault, East Anatolia Fault and West Anatolia Fault. In engineering practice in Turkiye there are three main specifications which are AASHTO LRFD Design Specifications for Bridge Design, Eurocodes and Turkish ...
Influence of solution properties and pH on the fabrication of electrospun lentil flour/HPMC blend nanofibers
Tam, Nilay; Oğuz, Seren; Aydogdu, AYÇA; Şümnü, Servet Gülüm; Şahin, Serpil (Elsevier BV, 2017-12-01)
Electrospinning is a method used in fiber production in which an electric force is applied to create jets of charged polymer solutions. The objective of this study was to obtain homogeneous nanofibers from lentil flour and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) blend by using electrospinning method. Distilled water was used as solvent. The effects of pH (7, 10 and 12), lentil flour concentration (1% and 2% (w/v)) and HPMC concentration (0.25%, 0.5% and 1% (w/v)) on solution properties and fiber morphology wer...
Influence of idealized pushover curves on seismic response
Kadaş, Koray; Yakut, Ahmet; Department of Civil Engineering (2006)
Contemporary approach performance based engineering generally relies on the approximate procedures that are based on the use of capacity curve derived from pushover analysis. The most important parameter in the displacement-based approach is the inelastic displacement demand computed under a given seismic effect and the most common procedures employed for this estimation; the Capacity Spectrum Method and the Displacement Coefficient Method are based on bi-linearization of the capacity curve. Although there ...
